Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 161

Emmy snapped her head up, her mind racing with just one thought—she had to save her mom.

“Dean!” She hurried over to him, desperation in her voice. “You’re O-negative too. Please, you have to help my mom!”

Dean took in her pale, fragile face and didn’t hesitate. “Don’t worry. Does she need a transfusion?”

Emmy nodded hard, tears spilling over again. They were still short on donors. Who else could she even ask at this point?

Suddenly, someone squeezed her hand. James stepped up beside her, his brow tight with worry. “Will and the others are almost here. Hang in there, Emmy.”

Dean’s eyes flicked to their joined hands, and he let out a cold, mocking smirk. “Easy for you to say. It’s not your mom in there.”

He turned to the doctor, voice urgent. “Where do I go to donate?”

The doctor waved him over quickly. “Right this way.”

Just as Dean was about to follow, Evelina grabbed his arm, holding on tight.

“Dean, I heard giving blood can be really hard on your body. You’ve been working late every night, still fighting with Nelson Corporation. I’m worried you’re already pushing yourself too far.”

Dean frowned. “Teresa needs help. I’ll be fine. It’s just a little blood.”

“But it really does take a toll,” Evelina pressed, refusing to let go. Her eyes were wet with tears. “You’re so busy lately. I just… I’m scared you’ll get sick…”

That split-second of hesitation was all it took.

James was already in the donation room, rolling up his sleeve and offering his arm.

Dean yanked his own arm free and followed, pushing his sleeve up and thrusting his arm toward the doctor. “Mine too!”

The doctor jumped, startled. “Hold on, one at a time! We have a little blood in reserve, but we need to cross-match everyone before we can use it. The more, the better, but give us a minute to check.”

In other words, the faster and more people they had, the sooner they’d find a usable match.

A nurse quickly slid a needle into James’s arm, and his blood started flowing into the tube, dark red and steady.

As soon as James was done, Dean sat down without a word, letting the nurse hook him up.

Just as the needle went in, a loud commotion came from the hallway.

“James!”

“James, we’re here!”
