Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 181

Emmy nodded, satisfied, grabbed her purse, and stood up to leave.

“Emmy, stop right there!” Cooper’s angry voice rang out behind her. “You think Mr. Nelson is really on your side? He doesn’t care about you. He just wants to avoid a messy fight over Starlight Corporation’s shares so his takeover goes off without a hitch.”

“When he’s done clearing up the mess, he’ll swallow Starlight whole. Even if you end up with the biggest share, you’re no match for him. In the end, you’ll still be the one everyone blames for losing Starlight.”

“If your mother woke up and saw you handing Starlight over to an outsider, it would probably kill her all over again!”

Emmy’s hand tightened at her side.

She knew he wasn’t completely wrong. Even if she got the shares back, there was no guarantee she could actually protect them.

But if she reclaimed them, at least they would be hers for a while.

Handing them to Mr. Nelson was still better than leaving them to the wolf standing in front of her.

She turned around, her smile frosty. “You don’t need to worry about that, Dad. Whether Starlight rises or falls, I’m the one who gets to decide now. Maybe you should focus on holding on to your own shares instead.”

With that, she walked out without looking back.

Cooper’s desperate shout echoed behind her. “If we work together—give me the shares, Emmy! I can save Starlight, I promise!”

Emmy didn’t stop. She went straight out the door and down the stairs.

Once in the car, she told her assistant, “Take me to Nelson Corporation.”

As the city blurred past outside her window, Emmy’s eyes grew more determined than ever.

She had to talk to Mr. Nelson.

No matter how small her chances, she was going to fight for Starlight Corporation—for her grandfather, for her mother, and for herself.

The car pulled up in front of the city’s most iconic skyscraper.

Emmy got out and looked up at the legendary Nelson Tower.

The building’s dark glass facade shot straight up into the clouds, all sharp edges and cold lines, like a blade slicing the sky.

Suspended walkways stretched between Nelson Tower and the other tall buildings nearby, futuristic and almost intimidating.

Emmy’s neck actually started to hurt from looking up.

She’d never been here before, and she hadn’t expected the place to be so jaw-dropping.

Her assistant leaned in and whispered, “Ms. Lincoln, I heard it took five years to build this place. Nelson Corporation only moved in three years ago, and since then, property prices around here have gone up ten times. They really know how to pick a spot.”

Emmy tore her gaze away, her awe quickly replaced by determination.

“Let’s go,” she said, heading inside.
