Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 192

James’s gaze went razor-sharp, slicing through the darkness beyond the windshield.

The high beams ahead were blinding, like swords slashing open the night. In their harsh glow, Emmy saw at least a dozen men closing in, metal bats gleaming in their hands.

Her heart dropped. She fumbled for her phone, voice shaking. “I—I’m calling the police!”

James’s answer was cool and steady. “Don’t. Stay in the car. Lock the doors and don’t get out.”

Before Emmy could argue, he was already out the door.

The headlights carved out his silhouette, tall and unyielding, like some kind of untouchable god. The gang rushed him all at once.

Emmy barely managed to dial 911. The operator’s voice came through, clipped and businesslike. “911. What’s your emergency?”

But Emmy couldn’t say a word. All she could do was stare.

James didn’t let anyone get close. He moved like a shadow—quick, silent, deadly. In one smooth motion, he snatched the bat from the man in front and knocked him flat with a single blow.

It wasn’t even a fight. It was a massacre.

James barely moved his feet. Every swing of the bat landed right on target—knees, elbows, shoulders—followed by shouts of pain and the dull snap of bone.

There was a brutal sort of grace to the way he moved. Ruthless. Precise. Like violence made beautiful.

“Hello? Miss? Are you still there? Do you need help?” The operator’s voice dragged Emmy back.

She blinked, watching James outside—completely unharmed, not even his hair out of place.

“Sorry, false alarm. We’re fine now!” she blurted, hanging up before the operator could ask anything else.

It hadn’t even been two minutes. The ground outside was covered in groaning men.

James opened the door and slid back into his seat like he’d just gone out for a breath of fresh air.

He grabbed some wet wipes from the glove box and slowly, methodically cleaned his hands. Then he rolled down the window and tossed the wipe onto a thug’s face.

Finally, he turned to Emmy, as if remembering she was there.

“Did I scare you?” His voice was soft.

Emmy could only shake her head, wide-eyed in shock.
