Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 208

The next few days flew by in a blur.

Emmy was stretched thin, splitting her time between keeping her mom company at the hospital and juggling work from her laptop. James seemed to be everywhere at once, hustling between his job and the hospital. But no matter how late it got, he always showed up. Every evening, without fail, he’d appear ready to run laps with her around the hospital courtyard or show her a few self-defense moves. He was ticking every box of a perfect husband, and then some.

At least, that’s how Ivy saw it—her son-in-law was thoughtful and reliable, the whole package.

But behind closed doors, James was a different story. Gone was the serious, self-disciplined firefighter. Alone with her, he turned into a big kid, always looking for an excuse to get close, begging for a kiss or wrapping her up in a clingy, playful hug.

His never-ending energy and unmistakable chemistry left her heart racing every single time.

Honestly, Emmy was a little glad to be stuck at the hospital right now. She couldn’t imagine how she’d keep up with him once her mom was discharged and they were home alone together. The man’s stamina—and his appetite—were terrifying.

As for Dean, she hadn’t even tried to contact him. If he could hand over the system she’d poured countless sleepless nights into to Evelina without a second thought, how could she expect him to suddenly grow a conscience and stand up against the woman he adored?

No way. Emmy was not about to humiliate herself. It was time for a different plan.

She grabbed her phone and called Dominic.

“Professor, I need your help.”

This time, she didn’t hold anything back. She laid her whole plan out for Dr. Pepper.

As soon as she finished, Dr. Pepper smacked his desk and practically shouted, “I knew it! No wonder that system never really fit Evelina. So this is what’s really going on! You little rascal—how could you keep something this big from me?”

Emmy hadn’t expected him to believe her so quickly. His trust sent a wave of warmth through her.

“But I don’t have any evidence the system is mine,” she said. “If everything goes right, I can win back my rights at the AI competition at the end of the year.”

“That’s nothing! Leave it to me!”

Within half a day, the whole AI community was buzzing.

Dominic, the industry legend, had just announced that the one and only slot for his final apprentice would go to this year’s AI International Competition gold medalist.
