Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 49

“Let go!” Emmy tried to pull free, but Dean’s grip only tightened.

“Your mom told you everything, didn’t she?” Dean’s lips twisted in a cruel smile. “If not for her, would I have grown up without a mother?”

“It was Evelina. She did everything she could to get my mom to the hospital!”

“Emmy, you’re always saying I owe you, but all of my pain—it’s all because of your family!”

Emmy just stared at him, completely stunned.

“What… are you even talking about?”

“Don’t play dumb!” Dean’s eyes were full of hate. “You know the truth. There’s always been bad blood between us.”

“You were only ever nice to me because you felt guilty. And the way I spoiled you? That was just so it would hurt more when I finally left.”

But things hadn’t gone the way he planned.

In another life, after Evelina died and after Emmy’s parents were gone too, he couldn’t bring himself to be cruel anymore. He found himself hooked on her—on the way her skin looked with his marks, on how it felt to hold her at night. It was like she was the only thing keeping the darkness inside him at bay.

But he couldn’t let the daughter of his enemy have his child.

So he kept everything hidden, watching her try over and over to get pregnant, only to end up brokenhearted again and again.

He wanted her pain to pay for the blood feud between their families.

Emmy’s mind went blank, everything spinning.

A blood feud? No way. Their families had been close since their grandfathers’ days. Dean’s mom died in a car accident a week after their engagement.

At the funeral, he’d knelt there, back straight, ignoring her no matter how many times she called his name. She’d thought it was just grief.

So he’d hated her all along? Hated the Lincolns?

And that month he disappeared—was Evelina the one who stayed with him?

All that tenderness when he came back, all that care—was it fake? Just so it would hurt more when he finally threw her away?

Suddenly, it all made sense.

Emmy let out a cold laugh.

“Dean, do you even have proof? Anything that says my mom killed yours?”

“Why don’t you go ask your perfect mother?” Dean spat, his eyes sharp and icy. “Ask her what she was really doing that day.”

Before he could say another word, a big hand gripped Emmy’s and yanked her away from Dean.

Wife?

He let out a bitter laugh, mouth curling in pure contempt.

No way.

There was no way Emmy had found a new guy this fast.

She must’ve hired some actor just to get under his skin.

She was always childish like this.

She said she wanted to cut ties, but here she was, putting on a show just to get his attention.

After all, no one knew how much she loved him better than he did.

Thinking that, Dean straightened his collar and walked into the hospital.

He asked the doctor, trying to sound casual, “Oh, by the way, did Emmy come in today?”

The doctor glanced up at him, his tone a little suspicious. “Aren’t you her boyfriend? How do you not know she’s been admitted?”
