Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 5

“Mom.”

Teresa turned to her daughter, and tears welled up in her eyes.

Emmy managed a gentle, reassuring smile. “Mom, please don’t get worked up. They aren’t worth your health.”

When Dean noticed Emmy sitting in her wheelchair, he suddenly seemed to remember something. His voice tightened. “Is your ankle okay?”

Emmy met his eyes, her tone icy. “Even if I died and turned to ashes, Mr. Sparrow, what difference would it make to you?”

Of course. Just as she expected.

His whole world revolved around Evelina. He didn’t even remember why her ankle was hurt in the first place.

Dean frowned. “I’m sorry. I know you’re angry. But I really love Evelina, and I hope you can understand my choice.”

So, last night in the fire, he chose Evelina. And now, he was doing it all over again.

A sharp pain shot through Emmy’s heart, but it was so deep that she just went numb.

She let out a cold laugh. “A guy who can ditch his fiancée right before the wedding? Dean, let me make this clear—even if you begged me on your knees, I wouldn’t marry you.”

Dean’s brows knitted together, his intense gaze locked on Emmy.

Her reaction threw him off.

He’d pictured her crying, screaming, demanding answers, maybe even slapping him out of rage. That was the Emmy he remembered at twenty—proud, fiery, unfiltered.

He’d even prepared himself for all of that.

But she didn’t do any of it.

She was calm, distant, like she was just watching a show. Her coolness made him uneasy.

Did she... Was she from their future life too?

Dean’s eyes darkened, his stare at Emmy growing more complicated.

Noticing the weird tension between the two, Evelina quickly stepped between them, blocking Dean’s view. She looked apologetic, her voice soft.

Teresa turned to Evelina, her tone cold as ice.

“Ms. White clearly doesn’t plan to stay with us, and already has her next home lined up. I guess our house isn’t big enough for such a special guest.

“Go upstairs and clear out everything from her room. I don’t want a single thing left behind.”

For the past six months, she’d treated Evelina like her own. If she thought something would look good on Evelina, she sent it over without a second thought.

She’d even planned to find Evelina a good marriage match after Emmy and Dean’s wedding.

Looking back now, it was just a cruel joke.

The staff nodded and went upstairs to Evelina’s room.

Cooper rushed to stop them. “Teresa, that’s enough! You already gave her those things. You can’t just toss them out!”

Teresa didn’t even glance at him. She kept her eyes on the staff, her voice firm. “Marian, take everyone and do what I said. No one can stop you today.”
