Escape from Mr. Whitman (Emma and Theodore) novel Chapter 253

Theodore sent over a photo this time—it was one of his jackets. The shoulders are a bit snug on this one. I need it altered.

Emma was exasperated. I’ll talk to the studio when I have time. We’ll set up an appointment to get it fixed.

Then Theodore sent another picture. I need this one altered too. The sleeves are too short.

Emma stared at her phone in disbelief. Seriously? That’s impossible. They’ve tailored at least a hundred suits for you, and you’ve never once complained about the fit when I brought them home. And now you want every single one altered?

Yeah, I want them all adjusted. And here, take a look at this one.

He went ahead and sent a photo of himself wearing it.

It looked perfectly fine!

Emma shot back, This one looks great!

No, I don’t like the style. It’s too dull. Needs to be changed.

What?

Who was it that said, “I’m the head of a company, my image should be mature and dependable—no need for anything too trendy”?

Theodore, are you just trying to pick a fight with me today?

Say what you want. I want them all altered.

You can take them to the shop yourself. Ellis will handle it.

No, you talk to them. I’m busy. Whatever they say, you can pass it on to me.

Sorry, but I’m busy too. If none of these fit, then give them away. If you can’t do that, just donate them.

If her foot didn’t recover, she’d never have that strength again.

“Emma, I had another video call with the professor last night. He sent me a new set of rehab exercises just for your foot. Let’s try them today.” Sebastian stopped his own practice to help her.

Emma nodded. She knew recovery would be hard, but she wasn’t backing down.

Their time in Germany was almost up; soon, they’d be off to the next city. Because of a hiccup with their rental car, they couldn’t leave the next day, so Ms. Brown gave everyone a day off to explore.

Thankfully, each stop came with a rest day before performances, so the delay wouldn’t mess up the tour schedule.

The next day, Emma and her tour mates wandered the city, sampling local food and snapping photos at famous landmarks.

Several friends posted photos online. Renee Chance even sent their group shot to Emma, adding, You look so much better than last time I saw you!

Emma glanced at the picture: Ms. Brown on her left, Sebastian on her right, and her own smile so bright that even she couldn’t help but marvel at it. How could I be smiling this much?
