Escape from Mr. Whitman (Emma and Theodore) novel Chapter 318

"Cecilia, you really are amazing."

"Truly, it's so touching. Theodore is so lucky to have you."

Cathie was fuming as she turned to Emma. "Emma, how can you just let them insult you like that?"

Emma just smiled and shook her head. "Let them talk. No rush."

No rush—soon enough, they’d see for themselves whether Cecilia was really a blessing for Theodore or not.

"Hey, Cecilia, what's Young Rossi actually like? We’ve been hearing wild stories about him for ages, like he’s some sort of legend."

"Uh..." Cecilia hesitated for a moment, then launched into her performance. "He’s gorgeous. I mean, absolutely gorgeous—no doubt about it. And he’s the classic aristocrat, you know? Whenever he walks into a room, he just stands out. He’s got that European royal vibe… Honestly, even princes don’t have features as striking as his. Tall, elegant, that noble air… And you all know—he’s got that hair!"

The girls burst out laughing. Someone sighed dramatically, "Oh God, if I saw him in person, I’d probably faint on the spot."

"You would!" Cecilia chimed in enthusiastically. "Back at our college, wherever he went, girls screamed. I don’t know how many fell for him, but he never paid any attention. He was always so distant—totally aloof."

"My heart is already pounding out of control! When’s he coming out, anyway? The party’s about to start!"

"Cecilia, please, you have to introduce him to me! I swear, just let me add him on WhatsApp. I promise I won’t bother him—just seeing his profile picture every day would be enough for me."

"Well…" Cecilia hesitated. "You know how he is—he’s never been the type to add random people online. Honestly, he barely talks to anyone he doesn’t know."

The girl slumped, disappointed. "Yeah, I guess you’re right…"

Another girl piped up with a mischievous grin. "Cecilia, with so many girls chasing after him and him ignoring them all, but being close to you… Could it be…?"

"Yeah, come on, tell the truth—does he like you?"

Cecilia bit her lip, playing coy. "Well… there was a bit of that, back then. But you know, I always wanted to move back home, and his life was in Europe, so… Actually, he kept sending me emails for a while, but I never replied. I didn’t want to string him along when there was no future."

"Oh my God, I heard Young Rossi is still single. Could it be that he’s been pining for you all this time?"

"My God, that kind of unrequited love, staying single for life—I’ve only ever read about that in romance novels!"

The tension in the group finally broke. Someone snorted with laughter.

Larson.

He couldn’t help himself—not because of anything Cecilia said, but because of his own sister. Every time Cecilia made a statement, his sister mimed it behind her back, exaggerating her lip movements. By now, he couldn’t hold back any longer and just burst out laughing.

After that group walked away, they were still gossiping about Young Rossi.

"Cecilia, with Young Rossi opening his company here in Cresthaven for you, don’t you think you two might get back together?"

"Yeah! You broke up because you lived in different countries, but now he’s followed you all the way to Cresthaven. Don’t let him slip away again!"

Emma couldn’t take it anymore. She burst out laughing, nearly doubling over. If Larson hadn’t been standing behind her, she would have collapsed onto the floor.

Cathie and Nita looked at her, puzzled. "What’s so funny?"

Emma grinned. "You honestly don’t find that hilarious?"

Cathie snorted. "She’s dreaming. That’s what’s funny."

From across the room, Cecilia’s voice floated back, "I don’t think it’s a good idea. I’m already back with Theo, after all."

"But what if he keeps chasing you? I mean, he’s spent millions setting up his company here just to win you back!"

"Well… I guess we’ll just have to see..."
