Escape from Mr. Whitman (Emma and Theodore) novel Chapter 335

Theodore Whitman lay sprawled across his living room floor, feeling lower than he’d ever felt in his life.

Suddenly, his phone shattered the silence of the night.

He leapt up, frantically searching for it.

When he finally fished it out from under the coffee table, he glanced at the caller ID—Jared.

With a sigh, Theodore collapsed back onto the floor, but still answered the call.

“Theo! I need to talk to you—this is urgent!” Jared’s voice crackled with excitement.

Theodore could barely summon the energy to respond. “What is it?”

“What are you even doing right now? Have you checked Twitter? You’re blowing up! Larson Bennett’s post is still trending at the top—everyone’s talking about it! You need to make a statement, fast!”

Larson?

Trending?

Theodore’s mind was a fog. Jared’s words thundered in his ears as he fumbled to open the trending topics on his phone.

Oh. He’d completely forgotten about the whole trending debacle…

“Theo, listen to me: what you need to do right now is post a statement saying you and Emma Bennett have already divorced. That way, no one can say you cheated, and Cici won’t look like the other woman! Theo, for God’s sake, think about the company’s shares! If this doesn’t die down by tomorrow, our stock is going to tank!”

Jared rattled on, not noticing Theodore’s silence on the other end.

“Theo!” he suddenly shouted.

Theodore, who’d been staring at the screen, reading the endless stream of insults directed at him, snapped back to reality. “Yeah?”

“Are you even listening to me?” Jared yelled.
