Hospital.
Theodore went to handle the paperwork, leaving Jared and Cecilia waiting in the lobby.
Cecilia was clearly upset. “I can't believe Theo. Why is he so stubborn? Is he really going to give all his assets to Emma? Emma’s divorce agreement didn’t even mention that—she never asked for any of it! But he insists on giving everything away!”
Jared lowered his voice, trying to calm her down. “He’s only giving up his personal assets. As long as the company’s still running, he can always make more money. Stop focusing on what’s right in front of you. The priority is to get this divorce finalized for Theo. If this drags on any longer, the baby will be born without a proper father.”
Cecilia wrung her hands, worry etched across her face. “Jared, do we really have to do this? Do you think Theo might—”
Before she could finish, Theodore returned. “Alright, let’s go get you checked.”
Both Cecilia and Jared fell silent immediately.
After the check-up, they were relieved to find everything was normal.
As the three of them left the hospital and got into the car, Cecilia turned to Theodore. “Where are we going for lunch? I’m starving.”
Theodore drove with his eyes fixed on the road, distracted. “Anywhere you like. I’ll drop you off.”
“You’re not coming with us?” Cecilia’s tone was full of reproach.
“I have some things to take care of,” Theodore replied, almost absent-mindedly.
Cecilia fell silent, biting back her frustration.
Theodore didn’t notice her sulking, and kept driving.
Her irritation only grew. But if she didn’t speak up, she knew he’d probably drive the whole way without saying another word.
“Theo, I can’t keep going on like this—skipping meals, eating irregularly! I’m pregnant! I need proper nutrition. I can’t survive on takeout or eating out all the time!”
Theodore hesitated. “Should I hire a housekeeper to cook for you?”
Cecilia stared at him, her eyes glistening with tears. “Can’t you come over after work?”
