But the meaning was already crystal clear.
Jessica couldn’t help but notice the way Melvin looked at her–his gaze was loaded with impatience and obvious disdain.
These past few days, Melvin’s mind had been all about Sienna.
Now he was even sizing her up against Sienna, regretting that he had taken her home and kicked Sienna out.
Jessica’s anger was boiling over, her nails digging so hard into her palms that it almost hurt. But she forced a smile and said. “Dad, listen to me. In a few days, there’s a big shot in Orlathis City throwing a huge coming- of–age party for his granddaughter. I can get us an invitation!”
“With someone like that hosting, you can bet all the top families and elite power–players in Orlathis City will be there. If we show up, there’s no way we won’t come home with some investment!”
“A big shot?” Melvin stared at her, clearly not buying it. As if Jessica could ever know someone at the top of the food chain.
After all, Jessica was just a regular girl, raised in an ordinary working–class family.
The Grant family was already the biggest name she’d ever managed to get close to.
‘No way she could ever get her hands on an invitation from someone that powerful,‘ Melvin thought, shaking his head.
Are you really just an ordinary person?” Mason said, his voice low.

He suddenly stepped closer, leaning in as his arms moved past Sienna’s sides, pressing his hands against the console behind her, boxing her in.
His figure, tall and straight, loomed over Sienna, completely enveloping her in his shadow.
Suddenly, the distance between them vanished.
Sienna could feel his breath swirling around her, invading all her senses; she couldn’t focus on anything else.
Those deep, seductive eyes stared right at her, only inches apart, intense enough to make her breath hitch.
‘This is… seriously dangerous,‘ Sienna thought, feeling her pulse spike.
This guy really knows how to play to his strengths,‘ Sienna couldn’t help thinking.
That face–arrogant, enchanting, almost supernatural–was pure temptation.
And worst of all, with him this close, Mason curled his slim, rosy lips into that dazzling, wicked grin, his husky voice sliding into Sienna’s ears like velvet hooks, impossible to resist.
“You won’t face it with your family, but you let me step in, let me stand with you… Doesn’t that mean I’m really special to you?” Mason said, his voice low and seductive.
He was way too close.
So close that, whenever he spoke, his warm breath wrapped around her face, making her senses swirl.
Up close, his proud, devilish face was even more dangerously captivating.
And those eyes–so deep and dark, filled with restless emotions she couldn’t understand, something unfamiliar that made her heart skip a beat.
Sienna’s heart gave a soft, electric shiver–almost as if all her senses were tingling right at their edge.
