Chapter 184
Pansy’s face shifted instantly. “What’s wrong? What’s happened to the dress?”
Eden wiped the sweat from his brow. “I just went to the storage room to get Miss Cooper’s evening dress, and when I was passing through the garden, next thing I knew–a water pipe exploded out of nowhere, spraying:
water all over the dress.
“It’s made from luxury mulberry silk. Once it gets wet, the stains show up clearly. Even if I deal with it right now, there’s no way to fix it back to perfect in such a short time… But Miss Cooper needs it this afternoon! What are we going to do?”
“What?” Pansy was truly pissed and anxious. “How could you be so careless? Aren’t those garden pipes maintained on schedule? How could one just burst like that? We’re supposed to go to the Brown family this afternoon, and now the dress is ruined. Eden, you-” She gritted her teeth, trying to hold back her irritation.
Eden lowered his head, guilt written all over his face. “I’ve already tried reaching out to other brands to see if they can rush anything over, but time is too tight–and finding a dress in Miss Cooper’s size on such short notice is almost impossible…”
“Honestly, I don’t even know what to say!” Pansy muttered, pressing her hand against her forehead, absolutely livid.
Even if another brand could somehow deliver a dress in time, it would never stand a chance against a custom Antonio design.
‘How is this fair?‘ Pansy thought. ‘Amanda gets to wear a one–of–a–kind Antonio creation to Sophie’s coming- of–age party at the Brown family, while Sienna has to show up in a backup dress pulled together at the last minute…
‘Even if Sienna says she’s okay with it, I just can’t accept this,‘ Pansy couldn’t help but think.
‘My precious daughter deserves nothing but the best in the world!‘ Pansy thought fiercely.
Amanda lounged on the couch, pretending to focus on her tablet, but she couldn’t stop herself from smirking inside.
‘Serves her right!‘ Amanda thought to herself.
‘Sienna is always trying to snatch everything from me. Looks like even the universe got fed up and decided to teach her a lesson!‘ Amanda gloated to herself.
She’d had to beg her mom for ages before she finally agreed to get Antonio to design a dress just for her.
But then, while her mom was arranging things, she went and got Antonio to design one for Sienna as well!
She’d begged for ages for this dress, and yet somehow Sienna ended up benefitting too.
‘See? Even the universe can’t stand how Sienna always gets all the rewards without lifting a finger, Amanda gloated silently.
If only… Amanda thought, malicious anticipation flickering in her eyes.
If only fate would step in and wreck the dress Mason picked out for Sienna too! Amanda thought, her heart full of spite.
Without a dress, Sienna will be nothing but a laughingstock at Sophie’s coming–of–age party! Amanda sneered to herself.
Suddenly, Sienna’s eyes floated her way, casual and unbothered, almost as if she was simply glancing through
Amanda.
Amanda froze, and out of nowhere, the humiliating memory from yesterday–Sienna pinning her to the floor in her own room–came crashing back.
She instinctively shrank back, her shoulders hunching.
Then Sienna spoke, her tone chilly and carelessly mocking. “The garden, huh…”
Amanda’s eyes widened abruptly.
‘The garden?‘ Amanda blinked, a surge of suspicion rising.
‘Beatriz!‘ Her pulse jumped.
Beatriz was the one in charge of the back garden now.
‘Wait… could Beatriz have sabotaged Sienna’s dress?‘ Amanda’s thoughts tumbled over themselves, suddenly alert.
‘Why does Beatriz never check with me first before she does anything?‘ Amanda grumbled to herself.
It was not a big deal if the dress Pansy specially ordered for Sienna gets ruined–what really matters was that exclusive Yara Bloom masterpiece…
“It’s really not a big deal, Mom,” Sienna said breezily, pulling her gaze away.
She reached out, gently squeezing Pansy’s wrist at a calming spot.
Pansy’s tense brow softened a little.
Sienna gave her hand a reassuring pat. “Mason gave me a dress yesterday as a gift–it’s perfect for today. I’ll just wear that one instead.”
Pansy’s face brightened. “Mason got you a dress? That kid, always so considerate! Guess the universe really is looking out for us!”
She grabbed Sienna’s hand and hustled her upstairs. “Come on, let’s hurry up and try it on! I want to see for myself just how good Mason’s taste is. And with Xavier the stylist here, we can get your hair and makeup done
all at once.”
“Mom…” Amanda couldn’t take it anymore–she jumped to her feet, biting her lower lip, her voice thick with a
pouty annoyance.
Xavier was just helping her plan her whole look!
He should be giving her the styling session first!
How could Mom just snatch Xavier away like that?‘ Amanda sulked inwardly.
She didn’t even get mad yesterday when her mom, right in front of her, packed Beatriz off to the back garden without the slightest care for Amanda’s dignity,
She’d been up early, doting on her mom, full of cute antics and sweet talk, just to see her smile.
But as soon as Sienna walked in, all that effort meant nothing.
Pansy’s favoritism was so obvious now. She didn’t even bother pretending anymore!
Pansy couldn’t care less about how Amanda felt!
Pansy didn’t give it much thought. She glanced at Amanda. “Amanda, you’re still not sure about your style, right? Just wait and watch for now. Let Xavier help Sienna try on her evening dress first and see how it looks.”
With that, she grabbed Sienna with one hand and Xavier with the other, ushering them both upstairs.
Sienna wasn’t about to be trapped in a chair all morning, forced to sit through hours of fussy styling.
She definitely wasn’t interested in wearing some ultra–formal look from dawn till evening.
Just the thought made Sienna’s skin crawl. “Mom, I’ve already seen the dress–it’s fine. As for the styling, I’ll handle it right before we leave this afternoon.”
Pansy looked worried. “If you wait until right before we leave, won’t you be rushed? And… what if Xavier already has other stuff scheduled?”
“Hey, I’m good anytime, just say the word–always on call!” Xavier chirped, his pink hair bouncing with excitement.
“But…” Pansy couldn’t help but want to see her darling all dressed up, even just for a moment.
“It’s Sophie’s big day–her party, her stage. I’m just a guest, no need to go overboard and steal her spotlight,” Sienna replied coolly.
