Chapter 36
Sienna didn’t even spare Erik a glance, her face a mask of serene calm. “Last night’s data crash was a deliberate trap set by the attackers-to create total chaos and cover up the actual route they took to siphon off the data.”
Her fingers kept flying across the keyboard as she spoke, “What they really want is the primary core of the Wonder algorithm template.”
A wave of sharp inhales echoed through the control room.
The senior researcher, Homer, knitted his brows tightly. “The main core of Wonder’s algorithm template is essentially its beating heart-linked to key national defense systems, aerospace and energy tech… If it gets stolen, the consequences would be unimaginable!”
Sienna let out a nonchalant “Yeah,” her plump red lips curling slightly in indifference. “It’s definitely dangerous, and they’re sneaky as hell. The second we detect that implanted crash program, it’ll blow itself up right there, devouring surrounding data streams and erasing every last trace.”
Homer’s face went ashen in an instant. “Then… what happens to Wonder…?”
He thought, ‘If it detonates, Wonder would suffer massive damage!’
“What? You knew the program was rigged to self-destruct and you barged in anyway? Why not leave the expert work to the real experts?” Erik seized on what he saw as the ideal chance to tear into Sienna. “I told you —you don’t know squat; you’re just charging in recklessly!”
“You’re the expert, but you couldn’t even spot the trap.” Sienna hammered the keys harder, producing a crisp “tap-tap-tap.”
Being called out like that by a young girl in front of all his coworkers turned Erik’s face stormy. “So what if you found the trap? Now what? You can’t breach a program like that! You could end up destroying Wonder altogether!”
“Just because you’re out of your depth doesn’t mean I am.” Sienna lifted her gaze just a fraction, her eyes cool as ice. “If you can’t contribute, then get lost-don’t waste our time.”
“You!” Erik gritted his teeth, his rage flipping into a mocking chuckle. “Alright then! Let’s see just how ‘skilled’ you really are! I’m not hanging around for this fiasco. If Wonder gets wrecked, it’s all on you and your little team!”
With that, he yanked off his white lab coat in a furious snap, flung it to the floor, swiped his access card, and stormed out of the control room.
“The annoying buzz is gone—let’s keep moving.” Sienna’s expression didn’t change in the slightest as she lowered her eyes back to the screen.
Homer looked worried sick. “This… can we actually crack that program?”
“Chill.” Sienna’s smile widened, growing even frostier. “Funny enough, my specialty… is rooting out pesky little
rodents.”

A spark of interest flickered in her detached gaze. With her fingers dancing across the keys, she snapped out commands, “Stations 1, 3, 5-I’ll open a pathway; you guys sever every external connection in the core stage!”
Her keystrokes spread a vast data network across the main display.
“Stations 2, 6, 10-launch the cleanup routine now.” She’d set up the framework last night; they could take it from there.
After she assigned everything, Sienna’s fingers flicked to pull up a fresh interface, her bright eyes narrowing to a keen edge.
She smirked, her look sharp as a blade. “Tracking team-with me.”
Some people still hadn’t connected the dots that Sienna was behind last night’s urgent fix; to them, she just came across as far too young-young enough that… It was hard to take her expertise seriously.
But, mindful of what Homer had said earlier, one of them couldn’t resist asking, “How exactly do we track them?”
Their team of pros had been at it since the incident started-fourteen grueling hours-and they still hadn’t traced the culprits.
Sienna didn’t break stride in her typing, calmly explaining the reasonable doubt. “Anything that touches a network leaves a trail. We can chase down the leftover breadcrumbs they scattered right back to their source.”
“How could it be that simple? They’d have scrubbed every trace…” The attackers aren’t fools.
Sienna said, “It’s actually pretty straightforward.”
Her fingers danced across the keys, but she still managed to multitask without missing a beat. “Look at the data here-follow this pattern, merge all the paths, then branch off from this spot…”
Her voice was cool and clipped, each word landing with precision.
As she guided them and her hands kept moving, it wasn’t long before she said, “See? Target locked.”
The tracking team stared as the attackers’ virtual blip hopped across nodes in the national network grid, finally zeroing in on a specific outpost IP.
“Tracking team, keep up.” Sienna’s fingers blurred like a concert pianist’s, leaving ghostly trails in their wake.
As the team jumped into gear, Mason’s support team moved in swiftly, encircling the outpost.
“Repair crew, follow the data points I’ve marked and fix them step by step.” Sienna didn’t skip a beat, dishing out orders on the fly.
Every directive she issued was straightforward and easy to grasp.
Plus, for each move she made, she’d patiently unpack her whole approach in the most efficient way, spelling it out for everyone. And somehow, her typing only got faster.

Her seamless operations and pinpoint commands stabilized every algorithm route and core data element in no time flat.
“Nice. Now… let’s poke around inside that outpost.” Sienna’s fingers flicked open a fresh window, code pouring down like a digital cascade and forming an inverted pyramid.
At this point, the researchers-typically a cocky bunch—were reduced to wide-eyed admiration and respect.
‘Her brilliant path breakdowns, that lightning-fast reverse engineering… they thought, ‘It is superhuman!’
Especially while she juggled the ops, barked commands, and even coached them through it.
The best part? Once she broke it down, all those knotty problems they’d wrestled with for hours suddenly felt like child’s play.
Over on the other side, the room was pitch dark, lit only by the erratic glow of countless computer screens flickering across tense faces.
A foreign guy let out a furious outburst. “Fuck!”
He chucked his keyboard across the space, leaped up, and snarled, “Those goddamn fools-how dare they toy with me!”
The dude fixed a death stare on his monitor. When he’d first caught the incoming IP, he’d been grinning ear to ear, boasting to his crew about his foolproof scheme.
