Both of them had hurt her deeply.
If she could still keep things under control, Sophia thought, Emilia wouldn't want them to know.
But her condition had worsened. Even though, for now, the nurse could keep a watchful eye on her, it was only a matter of time before the family had to be notified.
They went through with the treatment that day.
The place was a private clinic with strict confidentiality. Thanks to Emilia's careful secrecy, no one else learned about her illness, not even when she was discharged.
When it was time for her to leave, Sophia reminded Emilia to take her medication on schedule and come back for regular check-ups. She offered a few gentle words, suggesting Emilia take some time to relax and clear her head.
Emilia didn't say much. She simply returned to her newly rented apartment.
She was still recovering from the miscarriage and the fall—both were slowly improving. Discharge paperwork from Alden General Hospital was already underway, and Joyce was handling the details, so Emilia didn't have to worry about any of it.
For a moment, she found herself at a loss. She had no idea what she was supposed to do next—or even what she wanted.
In the end, it was Christian who found her.
…
At the Donovan Entertainment rehearsal studio, Emilia was busy preparing for the third round of Voice of the Divine.
Her phone buzzed. She glanced over and saw Tyler's name on the screen.
Technically, they were still within the court-mandated cooling-off period, which meant they were still married, at least in the eyes of the law. She probably should have called him to discuss things.
But soon enough, they'd have nothing to do with each other. So…
After a moment's hesitation, Emilia let the call go unanswered.
The Erickson Group.
CEO's office.
Tyler listened to the endless dial tone, his lips pressed into a hard line.
Without a second thought, he grabbed his car keys and strode toward the door.
He'd barely stepped outside before catching snippets of hushed voices—
"Did you guys see that gossip online? About the lady picking up the kid at school?"
He'd thought she'd finally learned to be reasonable, but now it seemed she'd only changed her approach.
She was still stirring up trouble.
In his mind, he could almost hear Vivienne's broken sobs.
Tyler slid into his car, ready to confront Emilia and demand answers—only to freeze.
He had no idea where to find her.
After their brief encounter at the hospital, they hadn't seen each other again.
He'd tried visiting her at the hospital before, but all he'd seen was the shadow of her and Felix together behind the frosted glass doors.
Was she still at the hospital?
With that thought, Tyler started the car and headed toward Alden General Hospital.
It had been days since he'd last been there.
But when he asked at the front desk, he found out Emilia had already been discharged.
