Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 176

While Tyler was headed toward Hillside Manor, Emilia scrolled through the latest notifications on her phone.

"Is this going to be a problem?" Christian asked, concern evident in his voice.

He himself wasn't worried; as the CEO of an entertainment company, he'd seen his fair share of tabloid gossip, and as a single man, he had nothing to fear. But the world was always harsher on women. Scandalous rumors could easily tarnish Emilia's reputation.

Even though they both knew nothing inappropriate had transpired between them.

Well—not that his own thoughts toward her were always entirely innocent.

Still, Christian prided himself on knowing where to draw the line. He'd never done anything that could be misconstrued, whether in the hospital, at Donovan Entertainment, or during after-work dinners. Their relationship had always stayed firmly in the realm of work and friendship.

Emilia shook her head beside him. "It's nothing. I'll just post a statement," she said, her fingers moving quickly over the screen.

"And besides…" Her eyes were calm, thoughtful. Compared to her mutually beneficial working relationship with Christian, it was Tyler and Vivienne who—

But she chose not to finish that sentence. After a brief pause, she said, "In a few days, Tyler and I will finalize the divorce. This is just noise."

Tyler had called and messaged her countless times.

She was well aware. That's why she'd already silenced his number and muted his notifications.

She hadn't blocked or deleted him, though—there were still practical matters to tie up. They needed to sign the divorce papers, and afterwards, there would be issues regarding the Dennis family estate to settle. Some communication was unavoidable.

The last thing she wanted was to provoke Tyler into making things even messier before everything was official.

Better to keep things low-key until the paperwork was done.

With that in mind, Emilia continued drafting her statement.

Christian studied her profile, hesitated, and finally spoke. "What if he changes his mind? During the cooling-off period, either party can back out. If that happens, you won't be able to get divorced."

Emilia reviewed her message one last time, then hit send.

"He won't," she replied, turning to gaze out the window at the city rushing by. "Vivienne only has about six months left. If he wants to be with her, he'll have to divorce me."
