Forsaken Until My Last Breath novel Chapter 11

Chapter 11

In the hospital, Vincent suddenly felt an unease welling up in his heart.

Even though the baby was what he’d longed for, he just couldn’t feel happy.

To distract himself, he mindlessly scrolled through the family chat group.

Suddenly his gaze froze-amidst the flood of congratulations, he spotted a loading picture from Rebecca.

The hospital had terrible signal. Vincent paced anxiously down the corridor, tapping the image repeatedly, but it kept showing ‘loading’. Right after, Rebecca sent a voice message.

Vincent was about to play it when the doctor came looking for him.

He glanced at his phone and muttered, “Rebecca must’ve seen the group chat, telling me to come home.”

That thought eased the unease in his heart.

Once he finished with the doctor and confirmed the baby was fine, he’d go back to Rebecca.

After his distracted talk with the doctor, Vincent remembered Rebecca’s message and opened his phone.

What filled his screen was a bloody wrist with flesh torn open. And a 5-second voice message: Vincent, I won’t wait for you anymore……

Vincent was utterly panicked, staring fixedly at that photo while replaying the voice message.

His entire body trembled violently, hands shaking uncontrollably before he frantically dialed Rebecca’s number.

In the hospital corridor, Vincent sprinted like a madman, shoving past several people and knocking over a trash can, not even noticing his stained pants.

He kept redialing with frantic desperation, but nobody picked up.

“Rebecca! Please answer the phone!”

Vincent raced to Spring Harmony Villa at breakneck speed. The car door barely opened before he leaped out, stum- bling violently and nearly falling.

After steadying himself, he kept running wildly. Reaching the second-floor bedroom door, he braced against the frame gasping for air.

Though the bathroom stood mere steps away, he couldn’t bring himself to move forward.

After several seconds of forced calm, Vincent finally approached the bathroom door. When his hand touched the knob, icy coldness spread from fingertips through his entire body.

The lock clicked open, the sound echoing through the empty room.

The bathroom stood completely empty.

Vincent breathed a huge sigh of relief. The frantic running had drained him completely, and he slowly sat down lean- ing against the wall.

He picked up his phone again and dialed Rebecca’s number, but still no one answered.

He looked around and noticed a thin layer of dust in the bathtub, and his hand on the floor was also dirty.

The bathroom hadn’t been used for a while, which meant Rebecca hadn’t been staying at Spring Harmony Villa re- cently.

If she wasn’t here, the only place she could go was the White family estate.

This realization jolted Vincent awake.

He stood up and stumbled downstairs, then immediately drove to the White family estate.

A familiar sports car was parked at the entrance. Vincent had no energy to guess who owned it; he got out of the car and rushed straight inside.

In the dead of night, it was quiet and deserted. The empty villa made him increasingly uneasy.

The bedroom door upstairs was wide open. He dashed into the bathroom, this time without any hesitation.

But the sight that greeted him shook him to his core!

No one was in the bathtub, but the pool of blood burned Vincent’s eyes, turning the whole world crimson.

How could there be so much blood? How?

The phone lying in a puddle of blood had an unusual pull, making the terrified Vincent unable to resist approaching it.

He took heavy steps, slowly walking over one by one, carefully picking up the phone from the floor.

The familiar couple-themed mural phone case made him tremble uncontrollably.

As his fingertip touched the screen, the phone suddenly lit up.
