From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 374

“I just put her down when you left—Carey’s been such an angel, don’t worry,”

Adelina Lane offered a reassuring smile as she spoke.

Olivia Bennett nodded, finally letting herself relax a little.

This was the first time she’d left her daughter since Carey was born. Of course, she couldn’t help but worry.

Beatty looked at her and said, “You and Ethan should head home soon.”

But Olivia shook her head. “I’ll stay with you a bit longer.”

She missed her daughter, yes, but right now, she was a daughter herself—and with Beatty just waking up in the hospital, she wanted to spend more time with her mom.

That simple offer made Beatty’s heart melt.

Olivia spent the entire day by Beatty’s side, not leaving until evening when she finally went home with Ethan Carter.

As soon as she walked through the door, Olivia went straight to check on Carey.

Carey was just waking up, wide-eyed and curious. Olivia, still smelling faintly of hand sanitizer and hospital corridors, didn’t dare pick her up right away. She cooed and made silly faces, but then practically sprinted to the bathroom to wash up.

Once she was clean and fresh, she scooped Carey into her arms.

Carey was so tiny, but it already seemed like she could recognize her mom. She looked up at Olivia and grinned, toothless and pure.

Olivia’s heart just turned to mush.

Ethan emerged from the bathroom, hair still damp, and stopped in the doorway. There was Olivia, curled up on the bed, bent over to kiss Carey’s soft little cheek.

He watched them, his dark eyes brimming with warmth, then quietly dried his hair and sat beside them.

“Carey,” he called softly.

Olivia tapped Carey’s chubby cheek and smiled, “Look, baby, Daddy’s here.”

Carey babbled happily in response.

Ethan couldn’t resist; he reached out and gently stroked her face. “Such a good girl,” he whispered.

The three of them played together on the bed for a while, until Carey finally drifted off to sleep.

Olivia lay next to her, watching her tiny chest rise and fall, before turning to Ethan. “Let’s go see Mom tomorrow—and we’ll have Carey’s check-up while we’re out.”

“Sounds good,” Ethan replied.

He wrapped his arms around Olivia from behind, his warmth seeping into her skin.

Lulled by his embrace, Olivia slowly drifted off to sleep.

Her breathing softened, and Ethan pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead before quietly slipping out of bed.

He leaned over Olivia, careful not to wake her, and lifted Carey into his arms.
