These two—one cheated but still won’t let me go, the other went after a married man and then just left him sprawled out in front of his ex’s door, like some kind of revenge scene, even kicking him when he was down.
What kind of messy soap opera is this supposed to be?
I pulled up the security footage again. By then, Julia had already put her phone away and was slowly walking off, her steps shaky but determined.
She really left Remy there, just like that.
Is this what people mean when they talk about love and hate getting all tangled up?
Honestly, I couldn’t figure them out anymore.
But I couldn’t just leave someone half-dead on my doorstep. So I called Mike. The moment he heard Remy was lying outside my door, he was so mad he couldn’t even get a sentence out. He showed up in less than thirty minutes.
When Mike walked out of the elevator, Remy had finally started to wake up. He was struggling to sit up, barely managing. Mike helped him up, leaning him against the wall, then stormed over and started banging on my door.
I hadn’t let Julia in, so there was no way I was letting Mike inside either.
It’s my place, my rules. They could knock all night for all I cared.
After a while, Mike gave up. Remy said something I couldn’t hear, and Mike just pressed his lips together and helped Remy leave.
Somehow, Blake found out about all of this. He got really serious about it, said I was in danger, and insisted on assigning me two bodyguards—the same two from the hospital—to drive me to and from work every day.
Marian came back early and showed up at my place, refusing to take no for an answer when she said she’d stay to look after me. I couldn’t stand to see an old lady with tears in her eyes, so I said yes and paid her a month’s salary up front.
Honestly, it was nice having Marian around. With my long work hours, at least I came home to a hot meal.
Our new project officially kicked off on Monday. The timeline was tight, the workload heavy. To keep me from getting distracted, Ryan volunteered to handle the rest of the tech department’s management.
I was still in charge of the core stuff, everyone else took care of the rest, and everything was top-secret.
A few of the single, younger guys got so caught up in the excitement that they just moved into the company dorms. Their lives were literally just office to dorm, back and forth, eating every meal in the cafeteria.
