There’s no denying it—being the boss is a whole different world. His office is massive, easily twice the size of both my apartments combined. Comparing myself to him just feels like setting myself up for disappointment.
“What are you doing over there, sneaking around like you’re about to steal something?”
I forced an awkward laugh. “Boss, here you go—everything’s ready for you to check. Brand, size, cut, material, it’s all exactly like your originals. If there’s nothing else, I’ll get back to work. I’ve still got a ton to do.”
I turned, hoping to slip out before he could say anything else.
But then his cold, sharp voice floated over from behind me. “Ms. Greenwood, you say it’s exactly the same. Is that really true?”
Seriously? Did he think I’d try to save a few bucks by getting him a fake?
Come on. I’m not that kind of person.
“So, Boss, do you want to have them authenticated? Just to be sure?”
Elliot gave the suit a critical once-over, eyes narrowed. He picked it up and said, “I’ll try it on. Please wait here, Ms. Greenwood. If there’s any issue, no one can say I tampered with it out of sight.”
Wow. Only someone as petty as him could actually say something like that.
Whatever. If he wants to try it on, let him.
Rich people really are in a league of their own.
Ten minutes later, Elliot came back out wearing the new suit. His skin looked almost like polished marble, features sharp and striking, with that tall, athletic build that makes everyone else look average. He was elegant and distant, like he’d stepped straight out of a cold, ancient sculpture.
I had to admit, when it comes to looks and presence, Elliot’s impossible to beat.
Even Remy, who I used to think was the gold standard, just didn’t measure up.
Not wanting to get caught staring—or worse, drooling—I only glanced at him twice before looking away. “How’s the fit? I checked everything myself, so there shouldn’t be any issues.”
Somehow, the room felt even colder. Elliot lifted an eyebrow and said, “Ms. Greenwood, you studied my measurements?”
