From Neglected Wife to CEO’s Obsession novel Chapter 35

“We need to get you to the hospital. Your forehead’s looking red—it might be infected.”

I was about to brush him off. Seriously, I’m tough. Give me a few days and I’ll be fine.

But then he shot me a look so cold, it shut me up on the spot.

At the hospital, he didn’t even stop to check in. He just marched me straight to the clinic. “She needs her bandage changed,” he told them.

Turns out, the doctor on duty was the same one who patched me up last night—and he actually knew Remy.

“Mrs. Thompson?” The doctor peeked out into the hallway, clearly looking for Remy.

I had no idea how to explain what was going on. The whole situation was a mess, and I really didn’t want to get into it. So I just pointed at my forehead. “Doctor, this hurts pretty bad. Can you check if it’s infected?”

He took a quick look under the bandage. “It’s nothing serious. Probably just got wet when you washed up this morning.” Then he called over an intern to change my dressing.

The treatment room was in the back. Elliot and the doctor stayed outside, talking. I’ve always had good ears, so even with the door closed, I could catch most of what they were saying.

The doctor was nosy as ever. “So, what’s the deal? Isn’t she Remy’s wife? Elliot, are you interested or something?”

Elliot sounded as cold as ever. “Thinking about switching to gossip reporting?”

The doctor snickered. “But honestly, Elliot, she’s gorgeous. Too bad her taste sucks. Why is she into Remy? That guy’s as fake as they come.”

Remy used to come off all gentle and charming. Lately, he’s been nothing but dark and shady. “Two-faced” really does sum him up.

Elliot just scoffed. “Everyone likes something different. She’s not blind. She just acts like it.”
