The party was set at Dawn Club, the ultimate hotspot for Georgia Bay’s rich crowd.
Kailynn swung by after work to pick me up and drove me straight to a styling studio. I picked out a pale blue dress with a sweeping skirt that moved like ocean waves with every step. My hair was twisted up and pinned at the nape of my neck, showing off my long neck, and the skinny heels I wore made my legs look endless.
The makeup artist gave me a look so natural it seemed like I wasn’t wearing anything, but every detail was perfectly done—subtle, polished, and just right.
Kailynn’s eyes went wide as she stared at me. “Avery, you look insane—like, pure and spicy at the same time. This is exactly the vibe you need. Remy? Please, he’s blind and clueless. Ditch him, girl. There are so many decent guys out there, and your bestie is here to help find your next big love.”
I caught my reflection in the mirror and couldn’t help but smile, feeling genuinely pleased for the first time in a while.
From now on, Avery is moving on. Every day is going to be this dazzling.
What I didn’t expect was to see Remy at the club, too.
As soon as I got out of Kailynn’s car, I spotted Mike helping Remy into one of the private rooms.
“Is Georgia Bay really this tiny? Can’t even go out without bumping into your ex?” Kailynn muttered, making a face.
I nudged her, laughing. “It’s bound to happen. Let’s just do our own thing. Georgia Bay isn’t exactly huge—what, am I supposed to stay home forever to avoid him?”
She grinned. “Fair enough. Hey, after the party, let’s hit up Nightfall. They’ve got a bunch of new guys, all tall and hot—one of them can apparently open bottle caps with his abs. You have to see it.”
I shook my head. “Nope. My new project’s starting soon, and I have a ton of prep left. Plus, I’ve barely been sleeping lately. I want to be in bed by ten, or I’ll start aging and get wrinkles.”
She just laughed. “So what? Even if you get old, you’ll be the prettiest, most elegant grandma ever.”
