Freya got Madison’s call almost immediately. On the phone, Madison said, “Ms. Harper, I honestly didn’t expect you to have the nerve to do something like this.

“You made Liam give up everything for you, his company and his parents. He even left a meeting halfway through and ran off to Sairo to find you.”

Freya didn’t hold back. “Madison, those photos were yours to the media, weren’t they? You let your own son become the joke of everyone, making him look like he’d been cheated on. You enjoy that?”

Madison shot back, “Don’t twist it on me. You’re the one who’s morally bankrupt. Freya, if you dare do something like this, I will release it myself.”

From the first day Freya married Liam, Madison and Joseph had been opposed.

It was nothing personal beyond the fact that Freya came from an ordinary family and had a father who had been to prison.

Later, Liam threw down an ultimatum. “If you accept her, fine, you’ll have an extra daughter-in-law. If you don’t, then consider me not your son.”

Liam walked away from his obligations. He stopped answering the company’s calls and his phone, and he took Freya to a small island to stay for a month.

For that month, they watched the sunrise and sunset over the sea every day, with only each other for

company.

Freya still remembered how deeply Liam had loved her then. He loved her enough to abandon everything and defy his parents.

But now he said, “My parents want a grandson too. Can’t someone else have a baby for you?”

Time, it seemed, had worn away their love; Freya and Liam were ultimately not from the same world.

Madison continued, “Name your price. If you’re willing to divorce Liam, I’ll do my best to satisfy you.”

Freya replied, “You want me to name a number? Madison, how generous of you.”

Madison said, “We are about to have a grandson. It’s not worth wasting energy on someone like you. Consider it spending money to avert trouble.”

“All right. I want 30 million dollars,” Freya said coldly.

Madison’s voice rose. “Did you say how much?”

Freya repeated, “30 million dollars. Consider it the price to redeem your son. Madison, you won’t refuse to pay, will you?”

Madison fell silent. After a moment the phone was passed to Joseph, whose voice was low and heavy. “Done.”
