Ryan scoffed. “I doubt it. Before I came, you two seemed pretty cozy.” As he spoke, his eyes pointedly glanced at her neck and collarbone.

Freya tugged at her collar. Liam had been too mad at the hotel earlier and left several hickeys on her neck. Her skin was always sensitive, and even a light touch would leave obvious marks.

Ryan’s gaze gradually sharpened. “Mrs. Grant, my time is limited. I don’t have the patience for mind games.

“If you keep saying one thing and doing another, dragging this out, you’d better find another lawyer for your divorce.”

Freya sighed. “You know perfectly well I have no one else to turn to.”

No lawyer would take her case once they knew it involved Liam. Especially since she wanted to file for divorce behind Liam’s back, using the power of attorney.

As James had said before, Freya could be free after the divorce, but Liam would take his revenge on the lawyer who helped her.

Only someone like Ryan, Liam’s closest friend-Liam wouldn’t go that far with him.

“Then keep yourself in check,” Ryan said coldly. “Your body and your heart.”

Freya took a taxi back to the hotel and went straight to Lily’s room. The black-suited guards were still there, and Lily was back to her usual self, standing on the table and cursing.

“Lily,” Freya called out.

Lily jumped down from the table instantly. “What are you doing here?”

Lily tried to signal to Freya with her eyes and whispered, “Liam’s here to get you. He brought a lot of guys. You gotta go back to your safe place. I’ll cover for you.”

Lily spread her arms wide, shielding Freya like a mother hen. Freya grabbed her hand. “It’s okay. I’ve already seen Liam.”

“He found you? Damn it. How did he find you?” Lily asked.

It seemed Lily’s memory was still stuck at the time of that phone call. Lily had no idea what Liam had done to her, let alone that Freya had already been there once.

Zara was also there, but she avoided looking at Lily. ‘She’s great. She’s been protecting Lily and didn’t tell her what happened, Freya thought.

Freya felt a bit relieved. “Are you feeling okay?”

“I had a headache, but it’s gone now. Liam’s such a jerk, giving me sleeping pills. A big shot, using such dirty tricks,” Lily said.

Seeing that Lily was fine, Freya finally relaxed. She looked at the row of guards in the living room. “Did Liam tell you to keep an eye on me?”

One who seemed to be in charge replied, “Yes, Mrs. Grant. Mr. Grant had to go back to Haventon on urgent business. He said you’re not to leave our sight while he’s away. Please understand.”

“Alright,” Freya said. “I’m going back to my room to sleep. Are you coming?”

Lily quickly pulled her back. “Sleep here with me. If the damn paparazzi see all these guys in your room, they’ll make up dirty stories about you. That’s what they love doing,” Lily cursed.

Freya said to the guards, “Let’s go.” She went back to her room and threw herself onto the bed in the bedroom.

Most of the guards knew how jealous Liam could be, so they didn’t dare to follow her closely.

But they clearly had their instructions. Some went to the balcony, some to the guest bedroom, some to the kitchen, and the rest stayed in the living room, staring at Freya’s bedroom door.
