Ryan gave a mocking, amused expression. “It’s too early for thanks. Who knows? You might hate me in the future.

“Hate you?” Liam laughed. “At most, you’ll just bicker with Freya. I know your character–no matter what, you wouldn’t do anything truly out of line to her.”

Ryan thought, ‘Anything truly out of line? What really counts as going too far? Does longing for her for fifteen years count? Or do you mean something more–actual physical contact?‘

A little farther ahead, a stall selling grilled sausages appeared. Several chubby dogs couldn’t resist the temptation of meat and struggled to chase after it.

Freya held the leash tightly, almost at her limit. “Ry… Ryan! Come here, your sons are out of control!”

For some reason, every time he heard her call “sons,” it made his heart flutter.

Ryan hung up the phone right away and rushed over. “I’m here.”

Hearing the busy tone on the phone, Liam frowned slightly. “Why did he hang up so quickly?”

Still, since they were close friends, he didn’t think much of it.

Just now, he seemed to hear a woman calling Ryan’s name on the phone. ‘Probably his girlfriend, he thought.

Lately, Liam’s situation had taken up too much of Ryan’s time and energy.

“Are you calling Freya again, Liam?” Madison caught her son sneaking out to make a phone call in a hospital stairwell

Ever since her husband was detained, Madison had become increasingly displeased with Freya.

She yelled, clenching her teeth, “If you keep seeing that woman, don’t count me and your father as family anymore!”

Recently, Liam had been furious, as he had always hated being threatened. He immediately fired back, “Mom, are you threatening me?”

Madison replied, “I just want to wake you up! Face reality, son! You’re ignoring such a wonderful girl right here; she painstakingly carries your child, yet you’re hiding away to call another woman. Is that how you want things to be?”

The mention of the baby only made Liam more irritable. “Always the baby!”

If it weren’t for this child, he wouldn’t believe that Freya would be so determined to divorce him and go all the way to Sairo alone to avoid him.

Even if she ran away, he could go and bring her back, or stay in Sairo with her until she calmed down.

But because of this child, he couldn’t leave or escape!

“Madison…” Natalie called out.

Madison quickly asked in panic, “Why did you get out of bed? The doctor said you have signs of a threatened miscarriage

and must rest.”

Natalie’s eyes were red, and she looked as aggrieved as a little rabbit. “Lammy, can you come over for a moment? I need to talk to you.”
