Chapter 85
Freya was holding a plastic bag of grilled sausages.
The three big dogs sat obediently in a row in front of her, waiting to be fed.
Freya distributed the water evenly–cach dog took a sip in turn, no more and no less for anyone.
Ryan stood with his arms crossed, watching from the side. The smile at his lips grew wider. “Looks like my fat sons have completely switched teams. When I feed them, they act like wild beasts–almost bite a hole in my hand. But when it’s your turn, they’re so well–mannered.”
Freya broke the sausages into small pieces and laughed. “Maybe they prefer me as their owner?”
Ryan snorted. “Heartless little things–just a few days with you and they’ve all turned their backs on me.”
It felt happy to be loved by the dogs.
Freya was quite happy. “Of course, dogs definitely prefer owners who spend more time with them. Since I was the one walking and feeding the dog ever since we brought it to the hotel, it’s no surprise they’re closer to me.”
On the sidewalk nearby, a family of three was crossing the street.
The baby looked only a few months old, crying loudly in the father’s arms, but as soon as the mother took over and soothed him, he stopped crying and broke into a big smile.
The father immediately felt left out. “What, you love mommy but not daddy?”
An elderly person nearby laughed and said, “Is it a boy? Sons do tend to cling to their mothers more.”
Ryan unconsciously echoed, “Sons cling to their mothers…”
Freya turned around and asked him, “What did you say?”
‘Nothing,” Ryan replied. “But don’t spoil them too much. Just look at how many sausages they’ve eaten.”
Freya stuck her tongue out at him. “No matter how much I spoil them, it’s nothing compared to you. You bought all the Sausages at that stall!”
Ryan shrugged.
After Freya fed the last grilled sausage, she gave the dogs a “stop” gesture. “The doctor said you all need to lose weight. You can only eat this much today. You can finish the rest tomorrow.”
The dogs kept whimpering and acting cute, hoping to awaken her motherly love.
But Ryan scolded sharply, “Stop whining and listen to your mom!”
The dogs tucked their heads, drooped their ears, and fell silent.
Freya walked over and asked, “Are we going back to the hotel now?”
Ryan asked, “Where do you want to go?”
“I don’t want to go anywhere. I was just asking.”
