His Untamed Rose novel Chapter 148

Time was never a cure—at best, it was a fleeting anesthetic.

Lumina sat quietly in the warmth of a room lit by a crackling fireplace, yet she felt the chill seep all the way to her bones.

...

It wasn’t until a last-minute work call yanked her out of her thoughts that she returned to the present.

Barbara, her boss, had phoned in. A high-end business club had suddenly ordered thirty stems of lisianthus and thirty white roses to decorate their venue. Lumina and another employee would have to deliver them.

This club was considered quite exclusive in Yuria. Lumina, curious, asked why they’d ordered from a no-name florist like theirs.

Barbara just said it was at the request of a very important guest.

Lumina didn’t have a choice; the task was hers.

She slipped the ring back beneath her suitcase, then called Soren to tell him she’d be working late.

“This is out of the blue,” Soren said, surprised. Clearly, he hadn’t expected it. “What kind of boss pulls strings like that?”

“No idea. But I probably won’t be home until after midnight,” Lumina replied, checking her watch. “Sorry, I won’t be able to have dinner with you. If you don’t mind, Nadia just broke up with her boyfriend—you could join her for Christmas dinner.”

Soren touched the bridge of his nose, remembering that burning kiss in the hallway. He smiled. “No thanks. Actually, I do mind.”

Lumina fell silent for a moment.

“I’m sorry,” she whispered.

There was a pause. Soren seemed to pick up something extra in her words.

His voice softened with a reassuring smile: “Don’t talk to me like we’re strangers. I hate that.”

After hanging up, Lumina began loading the bouquets into the car. Since she was still pregnant, her coworker Mimosa insisted on carrying the bulk of them.

“Thank you, Mimosa.”

“No need to thank me. You should thank your boyfriend, Lumina!” Mimosa wiped the sweat from her brow, grinning. “He’s so nice to you. He knows it’s tough for you to work while you’re pregnant, so he actually came by to meet me and my family. He brought gifts and Christmas cards, and even slipped me a little cash so I’d look after you.”
