His Untamed Rose novel Chapter 150

Inside the car, Casper gripped the steering wheel, his breathing slow and heavy.

He glanced up at the rearview mirror, watching the silent man in the back seat.

Since they’d arrived in Yuria, they hadn’t had a moment’s rest. Exhaustion was etched into both their faces, every movement betraying how bone-deep their fatigue ran.

It had only been two months and five days since Cedric left her at the airport, determined to let go for good. But that resolve had crumbled the instant he learned she was in danger. Every second in Banyan Town since then had been pure torment.

The moment his flight landed that afternoon, Cedric had made straight for her flower shop. Through the shop window, he watched her slender figure move gracefully about her work.

Just as Linus had said, she’d changed. The sharpness that used to mark her features was gone, replaced by a gentle serenity, as if time itself had finally granted her peace.

What kind of safe, quiet life could bring about such a transformation?

There’d been a late-night meeting with Yuria’s city council—a gathering of power players. Cedric had gone out of his way to have Barbara order flowers for the event, insisting she be the one to deliver them.

Standing at the upstairs window, he watched her from behind the glass.

Her dress hung a little loose, but he could see the slight swell of her stomach. She cradled two bouquets in her arms, laughing and chatting with her coworker as they entered the venue, her pale cheeks flushed with happiness.

Cedric found himself wondering: if she saw him now, would she still be smiling?

That thought alone had sent him, five minutes before she arrived, into the private restroom off the lounge.

He watched through the frosted glass as she came and went, never summoning the courage to step out and face her.

Afterward, he’d followed at a distance, keeping silent watch as she walked the nighttime streets. He’d trailed her footsteps—protecting her in silence—until she collided into Soren’s arms, the man’s hand slipping gently into her hair.

Cedric’s gaze turned frosty, cold as the snow swirling in the night. Without a word, he slipped away into the darkness.

...

Now Cedric sat slouched in the back seat, his sharp nose pressed to the cold window, unmoving. Outside, the world was blanketed in endless white.

Casper couldn’t help but worry about him—though worry wasn’t something that came naturally. He’d never understood, never even experienced, love between a man and a woman; such intangible things had never been obstacles in his life.

So he couldn’t fathom why Mr. Royce was always haunted by this woman.
