Chapter 141
Valencia
I did not have time to react as I felt a pair of strong hands drag me away from Nina. It looked like Martin had delegated the responsibility of looking at me to his cronies.
Meanwhile, Maelyn was still trying hard to convince her father who looked utterly distressed.
“King Beric, my apologies for the confusion. Maelyn left the castle after a fight with me and now she claims to not even love me but a member of my court. How do you expect me to keep our alliance intact if your daughter is unfaithful to me?”
Maelyn tried to launch herself at Martin, but guards appeared on either side of her to drag her away.
King Beric stood up from the chair he had been sitting on and growled, “Tell your men to keep their hands off my daughter!”
But Martin shrugged.
“I am sorry, but do you see what is happening here? First you come here with your daughter, trying to create chaos, she openly admits to cheating on me and yet you stand here expecting peace talk. I am left with no option but to throw her in the dungeons.”
Martin said in a sad voice, but I doubted he was anything but happy on the inside.
King Beric looked at his small convoy, that only consisted of his court members and maybe two guards. They unsheathed their swords, but two were not a match for dozens of the guards that popped out from all corners to fill the royal hall.
“Look, Prince Martin, we can still sort this out. Maelyn has always been a little reckless and fierce, you know that, but she is a good person at heart. Your father and I signed a pact and you should honor that.”
King Beric tried to reason with Martin who let out a loud laugh that rumbled through the room. His guards inched closer to the King as Martin continued to laugh.
“Did you hear him, Lord Bastian?” Martin referred to one of his cronies who smiled cruelly and stepped forward to suggest.
“I did, and so did the rest of the court. But I expect my future King to be fair and impartial. You see, if you throw the princess in the dungeons, should Sir Nicholas not receive the same punishment?”
Bastian spoke loudly and his suggestion made a few people demand the same. Martin looked at Sir Nicholas who had been trying to worm his way out of the crowd and shouted.
“Guards, catch him and bring him here.”
Sir Nicholas tried to scurry away like trapped chicken but the guards were strong enough to drag him back to their King.
The man’s face crumpled, and he raised his hands in surrender while trying to argue.

Chapter 141
“No, no, please, my King. Believe me, that she was trying to turn me against you. I don’t love that woman, I have not even met her alone before. I think she hates you for being impotent. She always worried of how to live with you and have no heir to the throne.
Sir Nicholas was rambling whatever came to his mind but his words made Martin pause
“If you have never met her alone, how do you even know her worries?”
Sir Nicholas was at a loss of words but before he could fumble further, Martin ordered.
“Throw him in the dungeons along with the princess! That is sufficient proof to their lies and deceit.”
King Beric fell on his knees and held onto Martin’s legs as he began crying.
“Please, don’t hurt my daughter. I will give you anything you want, spare her. Please!”
King Beric was begging and Martin let out a stream of curses before kicking him hard.
“Father!!” Maelyn shouted in vain as Martin rained down kicks on him.
“You insolent piece of shit tried to the me down to your daughter and threatened us with higher taxes and tariff’s if we didn’t listen to you. You and your daughter, both deserve to rot in the dungeons.”
The King’s convoy was also nabbed by the guards but they all fell on their knees and begged to Martin for mercy.
He looked around smugly and raised his voice.
“Anybody who tries to question me or my decisions will be treated as an enemy of Elorin. Anybody who tries to double cross me will end up in the dungeons.”
Then his eyes slowly traveled to me and he added.
“But anybody who does what is asked of them shall receive mercy.
Those lines were directed at me. I had hoped Marlyn’s entry would somehow free me of this shit show but she opened her mouth and did what she did best, fuck up everything
Martin was back in the game but I was done with this stupidity and the more he threatened the people here. the more I worried about Killian
I had to find him and warn him about all this. I had to go away to some place with him. Somewhere safe and
quiet
Maybe this would finally convince him to go back to the human world.
Nina had gotten up from the floor and rubbing her sore back that had probably gotten surt because her body was not used to the strain I caused her.
King Beric continued to beg for mercy upon hearing Martin’s words and he growled at him
