Chapter 45
Valencia
Her words had a very visceral reaction on the cheering chanting crowd that suddenly stopped chanting
Maelyn, meanwhile, continued to walk forward and stood directly in front of me, looking me up and down.
And up close, she looked even more beautiful. Her skin was milky white and spotless, her hair golden brown just like her e
She looked like a fairy conjured up by some wizard, ethereal and too perfect.
Martin looked at her and smiled,
“Easy there, Man. She just arrived to Seranthyne.”
But Maclyn was clearly unimpressed.
“if you told me, I would have worn something fancy too.” she pouted and Martin pushed an idle strand of hair fluttering idly in the breeze behind her ear.
Martin cupped her face and mumbled, “You don’t need fancy clothes or makeup, Mae. Your beauty shines through even in dirt covered clothes.”
That did a put a smile on her face but it quickly faded
“Now you have to answer my earlier question” She turned her attention to me
“Who is she and what makes you think she is the answer to our problems?”
Before Martin could say a word, Kilian intervened.
“I found her and brought her here. King Accidus met her and was satisfied with my answers. I dont think you would doubt King Aecidus judgment now, would you, Maelyn
I dont think that was exactly how the scene unfolded. I vaguely recalled him showing me the mark but that was back in the house, not in front of the
King
Had he told the King something else to assure him about me being the witch’s descendant?
I added one more question to ask Kilian later. They just continued to keep growing
Maelyn’s cold attitude dispersed just a little, but she wasn’t pleased.
“Well, we would like to see the mark for ourselves too. Ater all, we have to be sure she is not a scammer or a mole planted amidst us by enemies”
That made a few of the other people in the crowd whisper amongst themselves.
Martin placed his hands on her shoulders and turned her to face him.
“Now, now, Mae Why would you even want to start, Seranthyne in such a way? We all are here to drink and eat to our heart’s content, Politics and games should be left for the courts.”
Oh.
So these were not courtiers but the children of Accidus! There were hundreds of them
Had he fathered so mapy of them, or were there also friends of his sons and daughters in the group?
Maelyn placed a finger on Martin’s lips to silence him.

Chapter 45
“I am only making your job easier, Martin. If she is who she says she is, you don’t have to leave the kingdom ever again.”
“Out we were all called by the King because he was satisfied with what he saw”
*Killian argued, but Maelyn shook her head
“Are you forgetting what happened at the last Seranthyne?”
That made Killian stop abruptly.
“That was a mistake, Marlyn.”
“Yeah, so I am only trying to ensure there is no repeat of that mistake.”
Then she looked at me all decked up and mumbled.
“Besides, wouldn’t she be proud to flaunt her mark instead of hiding behind you
like a coward?” Maclyn argued.
That earned her another approval from the crowd, who all seemed inclined to agree with her.
My fingers subconsciously went to my collarbone where Killian had shown me the star shaped mark
He had said it only shows when I feel agitated or my emotions are heightened, but then I was feeling anxious right now.
But there was no slight bump on my collarbone like last time when I had traced the mark earlier.
Did it only show up randomly?
“Or is it somewhere too private on her body? Don’t worry, we won’t mind if she wants to strip in front of us.”
Martin was the one who said that line, and Maclyn glared at him. He corrected his line.
“I mean, I just want to be sure that you won’t doubt our dear blessed one again and we put this matter to rest once and for all.”
But I was horrified. No way, I was going to strip in front of these savages
I felt myself step subconsciously towards Killian, whose face was now furious,
“If the King learns of this, he will be very angry.”
Maelyn gave him a wink.
“And who is going to tell him that, little prince? You?”
She smiled shyly at him.
Were both Maelyn and Martin dropped on their heads by their caretaker when they were young? I thought furiously.
Killian didn’t miss a second to reply.
“IF need be, yes. Don’t forget that once she awakens her bloodline, she might turn you into dust in the blink of an eye.
I couldn’t even conjure a rabbit out of a hat, so there would be a long time before I could turn anyone to dust.
Maclyn only looked me in the eye and pretended to be afraid of ma
“Oh my! She will turn me into stone just with that glare! Help, save me!!”
She pretended to cower, earning a few chuckles from teh crowd.
“There is no need to be afraid of her, everyone! She is just an ordinary human with no wolf and no magic. She is pathetic, weak and useless to us unbl.
