Chapter 69

I didn’t have time to gasp or shriek as he pulled me close suddenly.
I only got to see that gorgeous face looking at me as his hands slowly traveled up my shoulders and cupped my face.
“Focus on me,” he said and brought the tip of his nose closer to mine to rub it affectionately.
And then it was as if the surrounding world dissolved into nothingness.
The gasps and shrieks I heard from around us suddenly mi
and I forgot all about Maelyn and her antics for a moment.
My eyes focussed on Killian and the way his fingers rested against my skin. His touch was warm and made me feel relaxed instantly.
“How can I show them the mark?” I began. I had not seen it clearly myself yet. I still didn’t know when it showed up and why it was so elusive.
But Killian looked at me with determination.
“Shh”
He said as he placed a finger on my lips. “Just feel this.”
He said, and my senses focused on the pad of his finger and how it brushed against my lips. It was a caress so soft and subtle, like the fluttering of a bird’s
wing.
I did as he asked, and he slowly took his finger off. His gaze dipped to my lips, and I saw his eyes light up instantly.
My lips parted as if they were eager to feel his mouth on mine again. Killian smiled, a true beautiful smile that I couldn’t come up with words to describe and one of his hands slowly trailed down from my cheek to my shoulder.
I could feel his fingers brushing against the fabric of my dress. The light touch and caress was maddening.
He was drawing slow circles on my shoulder, and I could feel his finger even from under the fabric. A part of me wanted to feel it on my skin.
He gently tugged at the neckline of the dress, and I felt goosebumps prickle on
skin.
His fingers caught a few stray locks of hair and pushed them behind my back while he pulled the neckline of my dress aside and reached for the hooks behind my back to take them off.
I looked up at him in confusion.
Was he going to strip me down in front of everyone? The panic must have been visible on my face because he whispered.
“I need you to trust me on this. Just close your eyes.” He said, bringing down his face near
to whisper in it.
His breath and his lips grazed the shell of my ear, and the tantalizing feeling had me getting on my toes to feel more of this.
“Let your eyes close.” He said in a soothing and calming voice as I felt his hand gently tug at my sleeve to push it down a little.
Next, his hand traveled up and buried in my hair, and he inhaled deeply. I heard his intake of breath and the low hum of his voice.
“Mmm,” He growled low in his throat.
And then the other hand came to place his thumb and forefinger just under my chin. He pushed it up gently to angle my face to his liking.
My eyelids fluttered as he leaned forward and slowly brushed his lips against mine. It was feathery light but that made something uncoil within me.

My hands subconsciously flew up to grab hold of him, to catch anything I could and traveled up his broad back before going forward to hold him by the lapels.
“Mine,” He growled again, and not even a second later, his lips came down on me.
Not with the slow rhythm he was building up or the sweet torture I was used to around him but with a hunger I didn’t know.
His hand grabbed my throat and held me in place while the other continued to play with my hair. I gasped and my lips opened to give him more of me.
My fingers twisted against the fabric of his coat, trying to claw at his shirt and tear it apart. My back arched as his kiss deepened and his mouth began devouring me.
I was vaguely aware of the sounds I was making, of the way my body
was pressed against his.

Killian’s mouth was exquisite, but his tongue was heavenly. It forked across my teeth, and my tongue lost the battle of dominion to his easily.
In fact, it was not even a battle. It was surrender.
My brain recalled the way we had shared a night of passion back at my apartment. I felt that I had mentally been transported there already.
“Ah” I moaned as his hand snaked up and down my hair and grabbed a fistful of it. I stumbled back when he leaned even more and my body fought to keep up with this frenzy.
I would have lost my footing but then his hands gathered the folds of my dress in one go and I was lifted off the floor in an instant.
I gasped in shock against his mouth as his hand was firmly plastered against my back to break my fall.
Killian caught my lower lip between his teeth and nibbled at it. Softly at first and then sunk his teeth in the soft flesh.
I think I moaned again, I wasn’t very sure of what sounds I was making anymore. Killian’s hand meanwhile went towards my collarbone, and he was drawing loose circles over it.
