The next day I got up even without asking Mary to wake me up. I had planned to use her as my personal alarm clock but the way killian had said that people respected what they feared had made my skin tingle.
Even if ! blamed him for bringing me here, I could have just ended up here regardless with the number of people sent to hunt me by King Aecidus. Sooner or later, I would have been kidnapped and transported to Elorin regardless.
Ever since the mark manifested on my skin, I was beginning to think that I could really have some dormant power in me. Even in childhood some part of me wanted to have some cool power so that I could make all my miserable playdates shut up or just leave me alone.
Killian had been an exception so far but I also couldnt always expect him to save me. Besides, it would be cool to hurl a punch at Martin or kick Nicholas if they ever looked at me the wrong way again.
With that thought in mind, I was dressed in the training clothes and had already headed outside the castle to the grounds.
The atmosphere was nice with the cool air breezing through and still half the castle still asleep. It was quiet and felt nice to be surrounded by just the sound of birds and water instead of the nasty nobles.
But there was no sign of Killian. Where was he?
I jogged a little around and asked where he was but the few servants who had gotten up to begin their day had not seen him.
His bed had been empty as well.
Instead of waiting for him and wasting time, I decided to just do what he would have asked me to do either way.
So I started running around the border of the castle grounds, letting the early morning sunrays refresh me. Without the heat and the eyes of several people on me, I found it easier to just concentrate on my task and finish the lap.
It was still nto an easy task and my legs still ached after finishing just one but at least I was not running around in the afternoon heat.
I had not brought water or a towel with me os I looked around and saw a servant filling buckets nearby so jogged over and splashed some water on my
face.
“That was just one lap” I heard Killian’s voice as I wiped my eyes of the water to see him standing in front of me.
I shook off the excess water like a dog shaking its fur and answered. “I thought you weren’t around.”
Kililan bent down to tie the lace of his shoes.
“I just finished my workout so I got a little late today.”
My eyes widened at that.
“You finish your workout at five? When do you even start it then?”
He shrugged and approached me, throwing a towel at me.
“Depends on how soon I get up and how much work is piled up for the day ahead of me.”
I caught the towel midair and dabbed at the excess water trickling down my chin and temples.
“So I assume you want me to complete the second lap”
He nodded, “Your assumption is correct. The sooner you finish it, the sooner I can decide how to start your training.”

Chapter 78
“But you were watching me you said. So you can tell me right away.”
But he shook his head.
“I have to know how soon your will breaks. I assume the second lap would do it.”
blinked.
“That is not fair.”
“Nobody said the world is” He quipped then went to stand beside a tree to lean on it.
“Off you go” He said and I threw that towel at him before securing my ponytail to start jogging again.
The small break I had taken provided little relief to my calves because they had started to burn already.
Thanfkully the air was a lot cooler so it would breeze towards me every now adn then to not heat up my body too fast.
My gaze flicked to the tree and sure enough Killian was standing there, watching me and seeing me struggle to run.
He had said it way too easily that the second lap would break me. And even if he was true, I hated to admit it.
Training in fights had not been my family’s priority back then and growing up i found solace and comfort in studies instead of fighting like the bloodthirsty wolves.
But now that I was in this world, I realized just how weak and an easy target I was with no influence, no nobles wanting to die for me or no wolf within
I wished I was not just a weak, pathetic human but at least a werewolf that would claw somebody’s eyes out. Being just a human in a world of ferocock lycans was like a kitten thrown in a den of lions.
My legs started to hurt and I had barely finished half of the lap. I was growing slow, and moving at the pace of a turtle. All the while Killian was watching
And I hated that my body was proving him right so easily.
It seemed that his eyes were telling me ‘See, I told you‘ and my stubborn brain refused to accept it.
Hence, I forced myself to run to keep moving, even if it took me double the time to finish the lap.

By the time I was done, I could not even stand so I let myself fall down on a soft bed of grass where it was cool and the towers of the castle provided ample shade.
I was breathing hard, my chest heaving up and down. However, I felt happy that I had not given up midway. Happy that I had finished a task I took instead of running away from it.
