Chapter 79
Valencia
My next few days went on like clockwork, Mornings were dedicated to tranings and the rest of the day to work in the temple,
Days had turned into weeks and yet there was no sign of the Crone.
Sarah and I would do whatever task Senior Nina asked us to perform and she ensured we would not get much free time to sit around and chat.
Killian would still make me do laps first thing in the morning and after a week, I had grown incredibly bored and frustrated of just running around.
No matter how fast I ran or how many laps I did, for the first week, he only made me run until my body couldn’t anymore.
The only progress I made was showing up everyday without fail and the number of laps having increased from two to four.
“You are just turning me into a sprinter for no reason” I grumbled one fine morning when I had just finished my fourth lap.
Killian stood with his hands in his pockets, appearing calm and relaxed.
“You aren’t showing me any real progress” He said offhandedly and it stung.
“How many times do I have to remind you that I am not a werewolf or a warrior. How can you expect me to do physical tasks like the men you train?”
Killian responded.
“Until that point drills into your head. That you are NOT a werewolf or a warrior, that you are weaker than the weakest of werewolves, let alone lycans in this kingdom and that you have made more enemies than friends since arriving here.”
“Whose fault is it for not keeping me in the dark?” I shot back.
Killian’s eyes narrowed and he mumbled.
“If you have the energy to bicker, I believe you arent exhausted completely. Go, finish another lap.”
I stalked towards him and raised my hand to slap him, to hit him, to just do anything to land a punch on his face.
And he let me reach him, let me raise his hand and stayed still. With my hand raised, I was sure that the slap was going to land on his cheek, I could see my hand moving fast. But when just about a hair breadth’s distance was left between my palm and cheek, he grabbed my wrist and stopped me in the
blink of an eye.
His eyes were steely as he still held the hand in between our faces and my breath caught due to the touch.
We had just been practicing, bickering or whatever this was but my anger and annoyance would soon turn to something else that had no place in the training grounds.
Every time he sneered or smirked, I would remember the sweet guy who would do the dishes for me, the cute man who did not have any issues with doing the chores for me and waiting for me at home after I arrived home tired from the day’s work.
Maybe I had taken his kindness for granted, his generous smile easily available. He would not smile at me when he saw me first thing in the morning anymore. He would just scowl and stare stoically to tell me how pathetic I was doing.
I began missing the sweet guy who would kiss he just because I asked, no demands, no excuses, just giving me what I wanted when I wanted.
“Why are you being like this to me? I get it, you can also be an asshole. Now can you go back to being the lan I knew?”
Words tumbled out of my mouth before I could stop myself. I had not referred to him as lan in a long time.

Chapter 79
His hand was still holding me by the waist and the feel of his skin felt warm on mine. He had kissed me in the court almost two weeks back in front of everyone. But even after sharing a room, he would just not be there in the bed when I went to sleep.
He would not even talk to me unless I tried to initiate a conversation. Even if I did, he answered in a word or two and went back to study of simply walked
out of the room.
This cold and distant Killian was grating on me.
“I thought you hated me for bringing you here.” Killian answered, voicing out the words I had said to him ample times before.
“That is one thing I hate about you” I said as he finally let go of my hand. I rubbed my wrist even if he had not gripped it tightly.
“So there are several, I see” He observed
“Obviously” I said, trying to not show how satisfied I felt to finally get a reaction from him. Just a hint of a smile appeared on my lips but then he realized what I was doing and quickly stepped aside.
“Alright, you think running is boring. How about you try to hit me then?”
I blinked.
“What?”
He nodded as if he felt this was the best idea.
་་གས་
“Yeah, you wanted to hit me earlier. How about you try it again for an extended period? Five minutes sounds fine for a start right?”
He mused and didn’t even wait for an answer from me because he had decided it on my behalf already.
“Come on, hit me. IF you manage to land a hit, then I will teach you hand to hand combat.”
My eyes perked up at that.
It would be much better than running around the castle grounds.
I nodded and straightened my back while raising my hands to take a swing. I simply took a step ahead and wildly threw my arm to the side but it met
empty air.
Killian easily ducked and I spun on my heels like an idiot.

“Again” He said and I threw both the hands at him from either side but again he simply leaned back as if his body was made of elastic.
“Keep trying” He said but it felt like a taunt more than an invitation.
This time I decided to not just use my hands but my feet and I kept trying to kick him but he was a slippery squirrel taht I just couldn’t catch.
“Five minutes up, you lost. Same time tomorrow” He said and began walking away but I called him out.
“One more chance. I will keep trying until I dont hit you” I said.
Killian looked me up and down as I was heaving and gasping for air.
“You are going to lose” He said in that same casual tone.
