Chapter 170
Rhea leaned back against the couch. Her head was pounding.

She hated herself for being so naive and blind in her youth, for ending up in such a state that day. Seeing Carter’s true colors that day had left her nauseated.
Feeling lightheaded, she murmured, “I’m leaving, George.”
“Are you heading home? I can take you.”
“No, not home. I don’t need a ride.”
Rhea slipped into a bar. Someone trailing behind her quickly called George.
“Keep an eye on her. Make sure she’s safe,” George ordered.
“Yes, sir.”
Inside the bar, a love song played, telling the story of a couple from youthful recklessness to
adulthood.
It started out sweet, joyful, and full of hope. Then came the arguments, the blame, and the anger. But through it all, no real regrets lingered.
Rhea’s tears fell onto the table. She asked herself over and over why it had come to this.
The memory of the Carter she once knew had already blurred. She wondered if the young man she met back then had ever really existed. Carter now looked so hideous that he was a stranger to her.
His attempt to forcibly kiss her by the roadside that day had completely shattered Rhea. In that instant, she had let go of everything.
She cried out of guilt toward her parents and brother.
That day had been humiliating for her. If the story got out, she didn’t know how her parents could face anyone. She blamed it all on herself.
Before Rhea realized it, her vision blurred, and the world began to sway around her.
Outside the bar, George sat in a car, engaged in a video call on his laptop. When Rhea called his mobile, he muted his laptop microphone. “Hello?”
“George…” Her voice was hoarse, broken, and trembling with tears.

George closed his laptop. “What’s wrong?”
“Could you send someone to get me? I’m sorry to trouble you.”
“Okay.” With that, he hung up immediately and stepped out.
The autumn night wind whipped around him.
Inside the bar, Rhea lay across the table, turning her face toward the ceiling lights. They were so harsh that they brought tears to her eyes.
“Rhea?
Hearing the voice, Rhea slowly raised her head. Her gaze was glassy, and her words were sluggish. ‘ You’re here already?”
George approached her and bent down. “I’ll take you home, okay?”
She nodded and tried to push herself up from the table. However, her legs gave out.
He stepped forward and lifted her effortlessly around the waist.
With a spin like that, Rhea felt as if the world were shaking. She had no strength to move, so she let George carry her out of the bar.
In the car, Edward subtly drew the partition between the front and back seats.
“Do you want some water?” George offered, twisting open a bottle.
Rhea shook her head and stared blankly out the window. “George, I feel sick… I think I’m going to throw up…”
“Then throw up.”
