Carter’s eyes turned dark and unreadable. He roared, “Stop the car!”
Glen hit the brakes and switched on the hazard lights.

Carter hung up on the call with Aiden, stepped out of his car, and strode across the street toward
Rhea.
Lauren tried to follow but was trapped by the moving traffic. She was stuck on the road.
Rhea was on the phone with the auto service center. Her car’s tire somehow went flat.
Suddenly, a hand pressed on her shoulder, forcing her to spin around.
“Who the hell are you?” Carter demanded.
Rhea’s phone nearly flew out of her hand. A surge of anger suddenly rose in her. “Who I am has nothing to do with you!”
All the calm she had maintained in front of her parents had shattered because of Carter and Lauren. If Ruby found out later, who knew how heartbroken she would be?
“Nothing to do with me?” Carter’s eyes were bloodshot. “Six years of marriage, and you let it go just like that? You jump from one man to another like it’s nothing? You don’t love me, so why marry me in the first place?”
He didn’t even know why he was so angry–maybe because he realized some things were slipping beyond his control, like Rhea drifting farther and farther away from him.
Rhea sneered. “We’ve already filed for divorce, and you’re living with Lauren now. Yet, you come here asking me this? Isn’t it ridiculous?”
Carter ground his teeth. “But I’m still your husband!”
Looking at Rhea’s face, Carter went almost mad. He suddenly pulled her into his arms, about to kiss her.
From a distance, Lauren screamed, “Carter!”
How dare he hold Rhea like that and try to kiss her!
Carter’s grip was strong, and Rhea struggled desperately. She struck him across the face, but he didn’t let go. He twisted her arm painfully.
“You’re my wife! You shouldn’t have kept things from me from the start! If you’d told me how you felt early on without all that drama, we wouldn’t have ended up here!”

Amid her panic, Rhea thought she saw someone in the sea of headlights. “George…”
In an instant, Carter felt a sharp pain in his shoulder, followed by numbness spreading across his left cheek.
Rhea’s heart nearly jumped out of her chest as she looked up.
The man who appeared in front of her was backlit. His tall figure completely blocked Carter.
Fists rained down like hail on Carter’s face.
Carter tried to fight back, but he was no match. George had been trained since childhood. Each strike from George sent blood to Carter’s mouth.
