Chapter 268
At that moment, Anthony stepped out of the car. He strode to the trunk and hauled out two massive
cases.
Lauren frowned, unsure of what was happening.
A second later, she shouted, “What are you doing?”
Anthony was throwing stack after stack of cash at her face, his blows ruthless. “Next time you use money to get rid of someone, make sure you protect your face first!”
In front of the courthouse, several passing cars had stopped to watch the commotion.
Lauren stumbled to the ground, and at that instant, she finally saw Carter’s car arrive.
“Carter… Carter!” she cried out.
Anthony didn’t stop. And through it all, Rhea didn’t move a single muscle.
Carter got out of the car and saw Lauren taking the hits, but his mind was filled with Rhea. He softly called out, “Rhea…”
Along the way, Carter reflected on the memories of the past six years. Once in Colburn, the city streets only deepened his longing for Rhea.
Perhaps he had started regretting the day he learned Rhea was the Ravelle family heiress, but he had never fully realized how important she was to him.
The conflicts with Lauren and the friction between her and the children finally made him see the truth–he needed Rhea. More importantly, the kids needed her.
Lauren was indeed Arielle and Adrian’s birth mother, but her presence didn’t have to exclude Rhea’s. In the past, he had ignored Rhea’s feelings. That had been his mistake.
Rhea said coldly, “Let’s go inside.”
“Wait,” Carter called after her. “Can we… talk for a moment?”
Lauren, still on the ground, heard him. Through the pain across her cheeks, she raised her head. “… Carter?”
She wondered if he was really regretting his actions. Was he thinking about getting back together
with Rhea?
She struggled to her feet. “Carter, can you take better care of yourself? Rhea doesn’t care about what you have. She had people throw money in my face just so we’d disappear from her sight.”

She was blatantly twisting the truth.
Anthony couldn’t believe that a person could be so shameless.

Rhea smiled. “You’re not wrong. I don’t care about what Carter has. If you love him so much, he’s all
yours. May you have many children and a happy family. Now, don’t waste my time.”
With that, she strode into the courthouse.
Carter’s eyes fell on a bank card on the ground. “What’s this?”
It was his bank card.
Lauren looked flustered and hurried over to pick it up. “I accidentally dropped it. Carter, you go inside.”
This was the final step. Nothing could go wrong.
Carter shot her a cold look but entered the courthouse anyway.
