Liam, as expected, spoke perfectly. His every word was carefully measured, leaving no room for anyone to fault the Ravelle family.

Yet, if Carter tried to ride that goodwill and asked for help outright, he would instantly come off as

shameless.

He lowered his head, taking a few moments to steel himself, and finally said, “To be honest, there’s actually something that’s tricky. I’ve talked it over with Rhea, but she hasn’t made up her mind yet.”

“What is it?” Liam looked ready to listen attentively.

“My son’s legs are seriously injured. I’ve heard that David is unmatched in his medical skill. I was wondering if we could perhaps ask for his help.”

Everyone else in the room was shocked that someone could be so shameless.

Liam didn’t hesitate. “Of course. I’ll contact David later. The kid’s health comes first. I wasn’t home

recently, so Rhea didn’t mention it to me. It’s her fault. You don’t have to worry about it now.”

His decisiveness left Carter momentarily speechless.

By all logic, the Ravelles should have hated him. After all, Rhea wouldn’t have spoken well of him in front of them. So why…

Because of that, Carter couldn’t even bring himself to question George holding Rhea.

He simply said, “Thank you, Liam and Ruby. I’ll also thank David in advance. Once my son recovers, we’ll come by to properly thank you all.”

“Don’t mention it,” Liam said, smiling. “The kid is innocent.”

A hush fell over the room.

Carter,

in his wheelchair, felt awkward. He wanted to check on Rhea but didn’t know how to start.

“Liam, Rhea-”

“Carter?”

A female voice cut in, and Carter’s brow furrowed instantly. He turned to see Lauren, carrying a thermal container, with a puzzled look on her face.

“Carter, I’ve been looking for you. Why are you here?”

In fact, she had spotted Peter pushing Carter into the ER from a distance. She had been listening from there, but all she could make out was Carter calling out to Liam and Ruby. The rest was unclear.
