When Arielle had been hospitalized, Carter had barely reacted. But when Adrian was injured and admitted, he lost sleep over it. It showed just how much he valued sons over daughters.
Holly asked, “What if it turns out to be a girl?”
Lauren’s gaze was unwavering. “That’s not possible. It has to be a boy, no matter what.”
Holly could guess what she was planning.
Back when Lauren had thrown herself at one old man after another, Holly had already known how ruthless this woman could be.
“Okay. Take care of yourself and the baby,” Holly said.
She was only willing to help because Lauren had promised her something in return.

Carter arrived at the Ravelle residence with Arielle, making his way through the snow.
Before coming, he had specifically asked about Liam’s whereabouts. Liam hadn’t gone out that day and was still at home.
By coincidence, the Ravelles had guests that day. Almost all of them were Draventh’s nobility.
The moment they learned that Carter had come, they said, “Oh, Mr. Ravelle, your son–in–law is here.

Rhea’s brow creased. It seemed that Carter really was lingering wherever she went.
Liam, however, kept his composure. “It’s cold. Invite my son–in–law and granddaughter inside.”
Philip went at once.
When Carter saw him, he said, “Philip, it’s been a long time.”
Philip remained polite but distant. “Hello, Mr. Jamison.”
He didn’t treat him with extra respect.
Carter shot him a glance, then brought Arielle through the gates. Inside, he was quietly stunned by the understated but lavish decor.
It turned out that even high society had its tiers, and the Ravelle family was at the top of the elite.
Everyone from the Ravelle family was present, except for Arthur.

Whether or not it was Liam’s doing, the elders treated Carter with warmth and respect.
Carter was flattered, almost overwhelmed.
He told Liam, “Please rest assured. I’ll treat Rhea well and protect our family.”
The crowd showered the Ravelle family’s son–in–law with praise, fawning over him.

Liam smiled. “As long as you two live well, I’ll be at ease. Rhea is quite stubborn sometimes, so you’ll need to be patient with her.”
Carter, beaming with pride, said shamelessly, “I will, Liam.”
Throughout the entire gathering, Liam introduced Carter to countless contacts. His expression was calm, showing no hint of dissatisfaction toward Carter.
Everyone present assumed that Liam intended to support Carter fully.
Quietly, many thought that Carter had struck gold by marrying the Ravelle family heiress.
When the gathering ended, Carter approached Rhea. Looking at her cold, striking face, he asked gently, “Rhea, why don’t you come back with us?”
Her eyes reflected the image of Carter basking in his newfound glory. She smirked.
There was a saying that arrogance set the stage for ruin.
So Rhea didn’t embarrass him. She only smiled. “My mom hasn’t been well these past two days. I
want to stay here and look after her.”
Carter nodded. “I see. Arielle and I will head back, then.”
Rhea turned and ascended the staircase. Her figure overlapped with the grand banister, making her seem all the more regal.
As Carter looked at her, pride flickered in his eyes. Only such a woman was worthy of being his wife.
He paid no mind to Rhea’s attitude toward him earlier, as he was still caught up in the feeling of being the center of attention.
