Carter didn’t take the reporters‘ absurd words to heart, but they seized the chance to press him with cutting questions.
“Mr. Jamison, Ms. Thayer has publicly apologized and admitted to interfering in your marriage with Ms. Ravelle. Tell us, did you feel no guilt at all when you betrayed your wife?”
“In your eyes, was Ms. Thayer really better than Ms. Ravelle?”
“We’ve learned that Ms. Ravelle became a stepmother after marrying you and worked tirelessly to raise your two children. How could you cheat on such a kind and devoted woman?”
Carter’s expression darkened.
A reporter pressed, “Also, we heard that when you first arrived in Draventh, you introduced Ms. Thayer as your future wife. That doesn’t exactly match what you said about being coerced.”
Carter warned, “That matter has already been clarified. I advise you all to stop spreading baseless rumors that could damage my marriage.”
With that, he got into the car.
On his way over, Carter caught a glimpse of Lauren silently crying by the side door out of the corner of his eye.
The sight of Lauren’s face sent a wave of guilt crashing over him. He even wanted to rush over and hold her to shield her from every accusing eye.

But he knew that now wasn’t the time.
So instead, he told Grace, “Find a chance to tell Lauren I’ll visit her once I’ve settled things here. Take this bank card. Buy her a small apartment to live in.”
Grace accepted it, though resentment simmered in her chest.
She thought that Carter was far too indecisive. How could he succeed in anything if he kept wavering
like this?
After the car had gone a short distance, Grace quietly got out where no one was around, put on a mask, and headed back the way they had come.
Carter instructed Glen, “To the Ravelle residence.”
The job was done, and now it was time for him to claim the credit from Liam.
Just then, Marcus called. He sounded stern as he said, “I sent you an address. Come here right away.‘

“I need to go to the Ravelle residence first. I’ll come by later,” Carter replied.
“No! Come now! Something’s wrong.”
“What’s wrong?”

“You’ll see when you get here.”
After hanging up, Carter hesitated for a moment before instructing Glen, “Head to the address Marcus sent me.”
As he said that, he sent a text to Rhea’s phone from his new number.
“Honey, everything’s been taken care of. From now on, the four of us will live happily together. Wait for me. I’ll come by later to be with you and have a drink with your dad.”
Not once did he feel any embarrassment typing those words. Shameless confidence came naturally to
him.
The moment he tapped on the button to send the message, relief washed over his face.
He was realizing that life with Rhea might not be so bad after all. He thought that it was comfortable and simple.
She would care for his two kids wholeheartedly, while Liam would offer him endless support in
business.
