Chapter 343
Marcus said, “You’ve lost everything. What are you going to do?”
Carter was left with only a house and an empty shell of a company. The past two days in the hospital had stripped pounds off him.
“I have a plan,” he replied.
That night, Carter was discharged.
“Mr. Jamison, we’re here,” Glen said.
Carter got out of the car. His facial injuries were mostly healed. He looked at the mid–range apartment complex in front of him. “Where does Lauren live?”
His plan relied entirely on Lauren’s connections. Anyone she knew, whether it was Sharon or Holly, he had to pull them in for investment.
He couldn’t count on Peter anymore. After all, Gabriel and Helen had long forbidden Peter from getting close to Lauren.
All he could do now was hope that Lauren’s network could help him weather the storm. Once he secured the funds, he would take his two children and go to Rhea.
“Dad, where are we going?” Arielle asked.
Carter turned and carried Adrian out of the car.
Adrian’s injuries weren’t fully healed yet. He couldn’t walk properly and still needed to rest.
“We’re going to see your mom. Be on your best behavior and make her happy,” Carter instructed.
“Mom?” Arielle’s eyes lit up.
Carter nodded. “Your birth mother. My company needs her help. Think of it as helping me, and don’t argue with her too much, okay?”
Arielle pouted. “Okay,”
Just then, Carter spotted a car leaving the complex. With his sharp eyesight, he immediately
recognized the woman in the back seat.
It was Lauren. She sat openly next to the man, who looked at least 50, with a smile on her face.
The car drove off quickly. Lauren didn’t notice Carter, who was partially blocked by the car.
Carter’s blood boiled at once.

He didn’t know what the hell Lauren was doing. How could she be so… disgusting?
Just a few days ago, she had been in frequent contact with him, and now she was cozying up to an old
man.
Carter climbed back into the car with the kids. “Follow the car!”
Glen was confused but followed Carter’s order, turning the car to tail the luxury vehicle ahead.
Carter ground his teeth.
Glen hesitated before asking, “Mr. Jamison, is Ms. Thayer in that car?”
“Yes!” Carter’s gaze never left the car. “And she’s clinging to that old man!”
Glen frowned. After some thought, he finally asked, “Mr. Jamison, do you remember the document envelope Mrs. Jamison gave you back then?”
“Of course. What about it?” Carter’s patience thinned.
Glen gritted his teeth slightly before saying, “Ms. Thayer threatened me to hand it over. After looking at it, she swapped its contents.”
Carter’s eyes widened. “Swapped? What was in it?”
Glen said, “A medical report. I saw the summary back then. She never had cancer. She has been lying to you!” 1
Carter froze.
Lauren never had cancer? So she had just abandoned him and the kids without any reason?
