Chapter 349
“Regardless of whether you go to Rhea or not, don’t tell her I said any of this,” Kate said.
Carter glanced at her. “Okay.”
“Even if you ask her about it, she won’t admit it. If you really want to be with Rhea again, you need to show some sincerity. She’s been my closest friend since we were young. I just want her to be happy. It would be good if you could truly change.”
With that, Kate stood. “Think it over carefully.”
Back in the car, Carter’s mind raced. “Drive. Let’s pick up a bouquet first before heading to the
Ravelle residence.”
He remembered how much Rhea loved having fresh flowers at home. Every time he returned home,
the place would smell of blooms.
After they bought the bouquet, it was already 11:30 am when they arrived outside the Ravelle
residence.
Glen hesitated to get out and ring the bell, as the memory of previous times being turned away was
still fresh.
But Carter noticed several cars parked outside. One of them was unmistakably George’s.
He was surprised to learn that George was there.
Inside the Ravelle residence living room, Steven was apologizing.
“I’m sorry about this, Liam. It was my wife who misspoke. She’s too straightforward and doesn’t
realize how her words can be twisted.”
He knew that Cynthia was in the wrong, so he spoke cautiously. He couldn’t let their years of friendship be ruined just like that. Otherwise, the Snider family would face endless gossip.
“Cynthia meant that Rhea just got divorced. If she and George made things too public now, people might think that they had feelings for each other before her divorce. This could hurt their reputations, and it wouldn’t look good for either of our families. George is a man, so it’s not as big a deal, but Rhea’s a woman.”
As Steven explained, he kept a close eye on Liam’s reaction.

But Liam was the kind of man who could hate someone to the core and still sit there smiling and talking, showing no hint of his true feelings.
Liam smiled. “Someone did this deliberately to drive a wedge between our families. Cynthia has known Rhea since she was young. How could she say something like that? Steven, you’re overthinking it. It’s a trivial matter. There’s no need to make a fuss and come all the way here.
“Cynthia is like a second mother to Rhea. Nathan spent a lot of time in your home when he was a boy. I haven’t forgotten the care you and Cynthia had given him and Rhea. Rest assured that this won’t shake the bond between our families.”
Cynthia felt her face burn with shame. She couldn’t speak a single word.
Liam turned to Philip. “Philip, how is lunch coming along?”
