I Quit Being a Stepmother (Cypress Gem) novel Chapter 360

Chapter 360

Given what Rhea’s friends had just said, it was obvious why Kate had come to see Rhea now.

George was making the Pearson family pay for Kate’s backstabbing. As his girlfriend, there was no way Rhea could be a

hindrance.

Liora glanced at her expression and said, It’s late. We should get going.

Rhea didn’t try to stop them. Instead, she walked them to the door herself.

From a distance, she saw a delicate figure under a white umbrella. She looked so fragile that anyone who looked at her would feel a pang of sympathy.

Just then, her phone buzzed. Rhea answered the call. Hello?

Did Kate go to see you?George asked.

She’s at my front gate,Rhea replied, lowering her eyes. Don’t worry. I won’t go against your wishes.

George chuckled. My queen really is clever.

Rhea felt a little shy. What are you doing?

Just wrapping up some work. Should I pick you up for supper later?

Okay.Rhea readily agreed as she wasn’t on any diet.

Outside the house, her friends passed the gate.

Kate stood under her umbrella, staring straight at the Ravelle residence. Her face was pale, and her gaze was cold.

Liora seemed like she wanted to say something, but Valerie tugged her hand. Liora looked at her, and Valerie just shook her head slightly.

Since things had come this far, there was no point in

trying to reason with Kate or waste any more words.

But Carolyn couldn’t hold back. Kate, we considered you our best friend, yet you stabbed Rhea in the back. And now you have the nerve to come see her?

Kate didn’t look at her, ignoring her entirely.

Over the past few days, she had already felt the icy distance from her friends. They were all clearly siding with Rhea.

Kate turned slightly, her eyes taking in all their faces. Rhea’s family is stronger than mine. I understand why you’re all standing with her. After all, it’s human nature to put oneself first.

Valerie, who was about to get into her car, stopped at those words. She turned back and met Kate’s gaze before approaching her. In your eyes, you think we’re all siding with Rhea and paying no attention to you. But first, you should look at what you’ve done. We’d like to help you, too, but we’re honestly afraid that if we ever took something you care about, you’d stab us in the back just the same.

Liora stayed silent, unwilling to hurt Kate.

Carolyn suddenly shouted, Being friends with someone like you is nervewracking! You actually did something like that just for a man. You really disgust me! Fortunately, George’s not into you, or you’d be strutting around and sniping at Rhea!

Evelyn tugged her. Enough.

But Carolyn wasn’t done. Why are you pulling me? She’s the one at fault! If you do wrong, you should expect to get scolded!
