“The shamelessness you’ve shown is something else. It’s no wonder you could hang out with someone like Lauren. For you, everything is always someone else’s fault, while your selfishness is perfectly justified. We’ve only been classmates for a little over a month, and you think you can come here and ask me for favors?”

Elena said everything on her mind, not caring whether Kate was offended.

She glanced at Kate’s pale face and went on, “Your dirty business has spread all over Draventh. I only had to ask around a little to know. If you like someone, pursue them openly. Don’t resort to tricks that only rats in the gutter would use. The trouble your parents are in is the price of your own actions.”

With that, Elena picked up her bag and walked out.

Just as she left, the waiters arrived with the food.

“Ms. Pearson, would you like us to keep the dishes and wait for the other guests?” One of the waiters recognized her.

Kate’s gaze fell on the table. Her expression was blank as she said, “No. It’s just me. You can go.”

She picked up her fork and slowly reached for the
