Seamus quickly caught Rudy, who had passed out from the fright. He said to the others, “Contact the PR department and tell them to prepare for this.”

Evie had jumped from the hospital’s rooftop. The sound of her body hitting the ground was like a firecracker exploding, its echo lingering. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say her body had

shattered.

Seamus wasn’t scared, though. He watched as the medical personnel rushed to collect the body. A bodyguard approached him and asked in a low voice, “Mr. Whitfield, will the public think that we forced Mrs. Pearson to her death?”

At the very least, Kate would surely think that. With her already being so difficult, this incident would only make things worse.

Seamus‘ face was devoid of emotion. “If Kate wants to die, I welcome it.”

George had put all of Seamus‘ other tasks on hold, leaving him to focus entirely on this one. He had even paid him handsomely in advance. If he couldn’t handle it well, he could just pack his things and

leave.

If Kate wanted to continue stirring up trouble, she would be standing in his way. And Seamus wasn’t afraid to do anything to get rid of people in his way.

He said to the bodyguard, “I want you to buy some things people usually use when mourning the deceased and immediately send them to the Pearson residence.”

The bodyguard hesitated, then nodded. He wondered what people would get when mourning the deceased and figured that it was probably flowers.

Seamus had been about to leave, but he now sat in the car and waited there. He kept an eye on things inside the hospital.

Kate was frozen in shock. She had desperately tried to grab Evie, but all she had gotten was a handful of icy snowflakes. The moment Evie had jumped kept replaying before her eyes; she couldn’t escape

She rushed downstairs, her face ghostly pale. Her mind had gone blank from the shock, so she forgot about taking an elevator. It took her 15 minutes to run down 20 flights of stairs, and she finally emerged from the hospital’s inpatient department, breathless and with shaky legs.

In the distance, she saw that the medical personnel had already collected Evie’s body. She didn’t even have the guts to approach them.

“Ms. Pearson!” Alfonso had come looking for Evie and Kate when they hadn’t shown up.

happened to you? Someone jumped off the rooftop and landed there. You shouldn’t go over there.”

Kate’s legs gave out. She knocked her shoulder against a glass window, and she slid to the ground. At the same time, her tears burst forth. “My mother… was the one who jumped…”

Her voice was shaky and broken. Her breath came out in trembling gasps.

Alfonso’s eyes widened as he looked toward the body. “W–What?”

Evie had jumped off the rooftop?

When the medical personnel were done collecting Evie’s body, Kate went over to them with Alfonso supporting her. “Mom…”

Her tears fell uncontrollably. The stretcher was covered in blood, as was the ground. Some medical staff crouched and tried to clean up the mess.

Kate couldn’t believe that her elegant, poised mother was now… a broken pile of remains. She blacked out and collapsed.
