After breakfast, Cynthia kept staring at her phone. She hesitated, wanting to contact George but stopping herself each time. She couldn’t muster the courage to do it.

She looked up. “Kate, which floor is your room on?”

“I’m right next door, Mrs. Snider. You can call me anytime you need me.” Kate left her in peace. “You look like you could use some sleep, so try to catch up on it. The flower fields will only be open tomorrow morning.”

“Alright.”

Kate could tell that Cynthia was in turmoil. She smirked faintly as she opened the door and left. But when she went to her room, she heard a door open behind her. She whipped around.

“Fancy seeing you here, Ms. Pearson.” Once again, Seamus was there, smiling at her.

Kate gritted her teeth so hard that they might crack. Then, she barked out a laugh and asked, “Are you following me, Mr. Whitfield?”

He said, “Now, now. That’s far too strong a word. I just happened to follow a path to this hotel. All I can say is that fate brings people together in mysterious ways, Ms. Pearson.”

“Cut the crap. What the hell do you want?”

Kate could live with the first run–in being a coincidence. But was that still the case? She had taken Cynthia across the state!

“I could ask you the same thing.” Seamus‘ smile faded until his face was devoid of emotion. “What are you up to, sucking up to Mrs. Snider like that?”

Kate wasn’t scared of him telling George about this. She was a law–abiding citizen traveling with an elderly acquaintance. There was nothing wrong with that.

She opened her door and said, “Keep following me if you’re so keen on it.”

She then shut the door.

Rudy poked his head out. “Mr. Whitfield, what exactly is she up to?”

“What else? She’s going to play Mrs. Snider like a fiddle and brainwash her into despising Ms. Ravelle.” It was the oldest trick in the book. The only issue was that Seamus couldn’t guess what Kate would do to achieve that goal.

His mission was to keep an eye on Kate, so he had no choice but to follow her–even though he secretly wished he could drive her mad enough to jump off a building. Then, he could get the

“Are we just going to wait here?” Rudy asked.

Seamus said, “I need you to get a banner done.”

Back in Dalea, they weren’t allowed to put up banners wherever they wanted. But abroad, nobody

cared about that.

He thought that going to a flower field was a lovely idea. There would be many people there, so things would be lively.

At 8:30 am the following day, Kate was feeling uneasy as she brought Cynthia to the opening ceremony of the flower fields. Fortunately, she didn’t see Seamus‘ hateful face this time.

The flower fields were an impressive sight. They seemed to stretch on endlessly as far as the naked eye could see, and various flower breeds covered every inch of soil. When the wind blew, it was as if

one could see the flowers dancing.

Cynthia finally started looking happier and even smiled.

“Do you like it, Mrs. Snider?” Kate asked.

Cynthia nodded. “I do. I love it! I would never have known that a place like this existed if you hadn’t

mentioned it.”

Seeing that she was more spirited, Kate opened her mouth to speak. However, the people nearby suddenly began exclaiming among themselves and looking to the left.

Cynthia and Kate followed their line of sight, thinking that there was a more impressive flower display there. Unexpectedly, not far off, a striking red banner hung beneath a patch of flowers that formed a mermaid.

The banner was a vivid red, and the words on it were printed in white. They were in Albish and formed two rows.

“A warm welcome to Ms. Kate Pearson, who backstabbed her best friend, poisoned two children, and came abroad to admire the flowers here instead of mourning her mother’s death!”

Seamus was actually just guessing that Kate had poisoned Arielle and Adrian. When working for George, the least dangerous move he could pull was to make things up. And, more importantly, his instinct told him that Kate wouldn’t dare sue him for slander.

The other visitors started speaking in their respective languages.
