Chapter 423
Carter didn’t have much of an appetite, so he just watched Arielle and Adrian eat.
These days, he was physically and mentally drained. He looked utterly worn out.
He had no path forward in Draventh, and Louie had now taken over Colburn’s market and future. He had nowhere left to turn.
“Carter, what’s your plan now?” Tyler asked.
Carter stayed silent. He had no plan, but he wasn’t about to give up.
He knew that if he could revive Jamison Group once, he could do it again. He would start over again, no matter what. He just needed a little time to adjust, and at the very least, someone to look after the kids.
He couldn’t count on Lauren for that.
The accusations he made a few days ago were just out of frustration. He didn’t have any real reason to actually sue her. She was investigated for a couple of days and then released.
Mia tilted her head. “Carter, why don’t you talk to Rhea? She loves you so much. If you just talk things through, I’m sure she’ll understand.”
Carter looked at her. “Are you eating? If not, leave.”
Having personally cared for the kids for so long, Carter knew firsthand just how exhausting Rhea’s days must have been.
By the end of the day, he was completely drained and wanted nothing more than rest.
Yet back then, Rhea not only cared for the kids but also tended to him, sometimes even calming his mood. How had she managed to do all that?
At the Snider residence, Steven had called George to tell him that Cynthia would be home later, asking him to come back for dinner.
By 9:30 pm, George arrived. At 9:45 pm, Cynthia arrived home.
The moment she entered, the maids immediately sensed something was off with her mood and quietly continued their work.
“You’ve been out shopping for so long. You must be tired. Come have dinner. George just got home, too,” Steven called out.
