Chapter 445
Nathan struck up casual talk. “So why haven’t you and Liora had kids yet?”
“Liora said that she’ll wait until her place in the family is fully secure,” Zayne replied.
Nathan frowned. “Her place isn’t secure enough already?”
Everyone knew that Abbie treated Liora like royalty.
Zayne gave a quiet laugh.

Abbie had endured it in silence at the start. But now, when the other ladies teased her, she could hold her head high and proudly retort, “I’m proud that my daughter–in–law has a fierce spirit!”
Though the household had been stormy at times, Liora had never tattled to him. She had always handled things herself.
Just like the time she had rolled up her sleeves and said, “If I can’t handle my mother–in–law, that’s on me, not on you.”
Zayne never saw her as overbearing or disrespectful. Every parent cherished their child. But why should Liora be the one to swallow indignities just because she married him?
Life was too long to spend half of it enduring misery.
“I think we’re fine like that. I’m now married and have my own family. My parents don’t need to interfere. I can stand by my choices,” Zayne said.
Nathan raised his glass toward him. Zayne clinked it and drank with him.
Beside them, George stayed quiet. His eyes were fixed on nothing, as if he were lost in thought.
Snapping back to his senses, he tried to stand. But as soon as he rose, he felt a force pull him back
into the chair.
Nathan pressed down hard on his left leg. “Where do you think you’re going?”
Obviously, he was going to find Rhea.
Nathan said firmly, “You’ll have plenty of time to see Rhea. Sit here tonight.”
He didn’t know why he should sit there. Was it to watch him cry or hand him tissues?
It was past 3:00 am by the time George finally left with the Sniders.

Chapter 445
Before going, Steven gripped Liam’s hand. “Liam, this is hard on me and George.”

Both fathers had drunk more than usual from sheer happiness. At their age, lasting until dawn left them weary. However, decades of hard work had toughened them enough to bear it.
Liam nodded. “Don’t worry. I’ll treat George like my own son.”
Rather than going home, Nathan headed to his private residence in a quiet neighborhood.
He slept until nearly 1:00 pm. The five maids in the house had been moving around nervously, worried that something might be wrong with him.
When Nathan woke up, he clutched his aching head and went downstairs. “Get me a glass of water.‘
He sank into the couch and closed his eyes to rest.
Soon, a faint fragrance drifted over. Nathan opened his eyes to see a smiling face before him.
“Here,” Elena said, holding out a glass.
“What are you doing here?” he asked, then turned toward his personal butler, Rowen Yates.
Rowen smiled. “Ms. Austin arrived this morning, Mr. Ravelle. She even bought groceries.”
Elena had come to Draventh to pursue Nathan. Naturally, she would show up at his place.
