Kate’s expression grew even darker as she thought about Annie’s words.

Kate forced a smile. “I… I came to bring you some coffee. It’s a new blend I just got. I hope you like it.”

“I see. Thanks.”

Annie then turned and walked into her office. Kate followed and placed the cup of coffee on her desk.

Kate thought for a moment. “Ms. Levy, don’t be upset. I don’t care what the others say. I just worry that any gossip might reach Ms. Ravelle and cause unnecessary misunderstandings, so I wanted to clarify in advance.”

Annie put down her bag and turned to her. “You don’t care? What about Ms. Ravelle?”

Kate seemed completely unprepared for Annie’s question. She didn’t know what Annie meant and wondered if Annie was concerned about Rhea being upset.

“Ms. Ravelle-”

Annie interrupted. “This is a workplace. Let’s keep non–work–related talk to a minimum.”

She then picked up a regular mail from the desk and said, “Translate this and send it to me before the end of the day.”

The mail was quite thick.

Annie raised an eyebrow. She wanted to use work to keep Kate busy and quiet.

Kate forced a smile and accepted it. “Yes, Ms. Levy.”

With that, she turned and left.

Back at her desk, Heidi noticed the thick document and asked, “What is that?”

“Mail from Ms. Levy, I have to translate it and send it to her before leaving,” Kate said, smiling. “I had better hurry up.”

Heidi glanced through it. “That’s a lot, and there are multiple languages too.”

Kate lowered her gaze, then gave a sweet, sincere smile. “Heidi, I heard you know many languages. Could you help me translate it first? I would like to see if I’m up to standard and maybe learn from you.”
