Chapter 7
I stared down at Aiden with disgust twisting in my gut. “You asked for forgiveness? Why would I keep a traitor who stabs me in the back?”
Vanessa staggered toward us with a limp, face darkening with suspicion. She grabbed Aiden’s ear and twisted hard, “What the hell is that supposed to mean? You actually cheated on me? Is she the one you’ve been screwing behind my back?”
Aiden scowled and shoved her hand away. “Back off. Who the hell do you think you are to talk about my wife like that?”
Vanessa froze. Then she slapped him hard across the face. “Your wife? Then what the hell am I?”
She dug into her purse, yanked out a crimson–red marriage certificate, and waved it in my direction. Before I could get a good look, Aiden snatched it from her and ripped it to shreds.
“Don’t you dare bring your trash anywhere near my wife.”
Vanessa stared at the torn pieces scattered across the floor. Her eyes blazed with fury. “You ripped up our marriage certificate–for her? Are
you insane?!”
She lunged toward me, eyes crazed. “I’ll kill you for stealing my husband!”
Just as her hand was about to strike me, Aiden shoved her away and slapped her square across the face.
“You lay one finger on my wife, and I’ll break your damn arm.”
Vanessa clutched her swollen cheek, her lips trembling. “You… you hit me? Over this slut?”
I chuckled coldly, completely unmoved. “Still don’t get it, do you? You’re the mistress. I’m Celeste Hawthorne–CEO of Dominion Holdings and the richest woman in Ravenshire City.”
Her jaw dropped. She turned on Aiden, face contorted in horror. “You’ve been lying to me? You’re just some leech who married into her family?”
Before she could spew another word, Aiden slapped her again, harder this time. “Say that again. I love my wife.”
Across the room, Director Clarissa and a young doctor stood frozen, their faces pale as ash.
“She’s really the CEO?” the doctor stammered. “That means Aiden’s just… a kept man? Oh God–we’re screwed.
“}
Clarissa whispered in disbelief, “He swore Dominion Holdings was his. I–I believed him…”
Then, both of them dropped to their knees in unison, trembling.
