“Take him home?” I asked.
“Yes, this is his last fight,” Karma told me.
I knew that. I just heard it. Right before Ozias declared that he was going to marry me.
I looked at Karma again and opened my mouth, but the words died in my throat. What I wanted to ask was how any of them planned to marry me when I was still married to Sean? But I didn’t want to say his name or bring him up. It would make me word–vomit right now. And now is not the time to spill the beans on everything. It’s supposed to be date night, and now… Now Ozias is so close.
“Blythe… the fight is gonna start in a few minutes, but I want to ask you somethin‘,” Karma said as he took a step closer to me.
“Okay,” I whispered.
“When Ozias left… I know things were changin‘ a lot with Angie and Tusk gettin‘ married and you movin‘ on the property, but… We got you a phone… Why didn’t you and Ozias ever talk?” he asked me. I frowned at him, feeling my defenses already coming up. “I’m not blamin‘ for anythin‘, Spark,” he added gently. “I want to know your side.”
I gave him a look before letting out a breath.

“He never contacted me,” I mumbled as I crossed my arms and stared at the floor. “I never got a letter, a call, a text, no social media anything… And…” I trailed off as my eyes flickered to Havoc for just a moment. “And Everly told me that he didn’t want to talk to me. That he told me he would reach out because he felt bad for me but never even saw me as a friend, just… a burden. Someone he felt sorry for. She said that she overheard him telling you guys that one day. After not hearing from him, I just thought it was true.”
Karma stared at me for a moment, the silence thick in the room.
“What the fu.ck,” Havoc was the first to break the silence. “That’s-”
“I think we should let him explain,” Karma cut him off.
“But she thinks-”

“And she only has to wait a little while longer to find out the truth,” Karma cut Havoc off
again.
“Fine, but when we get back, I’m dealing with Everly,” he practically spat.
He probably wants to help his twin as much as possible because he doesn’t believe me.
“Just make sure you do what’s right, Havoc,” Karma stated.
“What’s right?” Havoc scoffed, confusing me more.
I looked between all of them before settling on Karma.
“What’s going on?” I asked.
“As you can probably guess… Everly lied, Spark,” he said. “And that’s all I’m tellin‘ have to talk to Ozias yourself.”
you. You’ll
I swallowed passed the lump in my throat. I wanted to ask more. I wanted to say more. But suddenly, the lights dimmed and the speakers in the room crackled.
“Ladies and gentlemen welcome!!!!” A male’s voice shouted, and the crowd went wild.
I moved closer to the glass and peered out at the area. There was a man in a black suit with a microphone on stage. He looked well put together and flashy. Perfect for an announcer I
guess.
“Here to defend his title is the Russian Menace… Ivan Popov!!!” the announcer said, and the crowd went wild again.
A spotlight splayed on the left side behind the ring. After a short moment of people cheering and screaming, a man came out running. He was in a pair of red shorts with some logos on them and a matching jacket with nothing underneath. He smiled and waved at the crowd, putting on a show as he made his way to the ring. His coach was there waiting, and they chatted off to the side as the announcer gave us random facts about Ivan.
“And here to try to take home the title for himself… the rookie who hasn’t lost a single match… the man who most fighters fear themselves… The Silver Dragon!!!!”
The crowd went absolutely insane. Way more cheers and screams from the fans than Ivan had. But all I could focus on was his freaking stage name.
“The Silver Dragon?” I asked, not looking away from the spotlight that’s now on the right side behind the ring.
“Did you think he wasn’t going to go with the name you gave him?” CG asked with a small

“Dragon is also his road name,” Karma told me.
“I have got to get that story from you later,” I told them.

“We’ve been waiting for you to ask how we got our names, Shorty,” Psy.cho teased me gently.
Suddenly, Dragon burst out. He beamed at the crowd and waved at everyone. Dragon put on a show too, but his was classier. And se.xier. And holy sh.it, he looks even bigger down there
than on the TV screen.
“I’m not going to like this, am I?” I murmured as they all prepared to start the fight.
“Dragon is really skilled, babe, don’t worry,” CG told me.
“He got hit pretty bad at that one fight,” Havoc muttered.
“What?” I shot out. “Is he okay to fight?”
“He’s fine, Spark, don’t worry,” Karma told me before shooting Havoc a glare.
Still, my stomach was in knots as the first round started. Dragon had his head in the game, but Ivan was skilled too. The first round went on for a minute. It was just the two of them landing punch for punch, but Dragon dodged more than Ivan. Which ultimately won him the first round.
I was seated for the second round and Ivan seemed to be back with a vengeance. I was bitting my nails as I watched Ivan relentlessly throw fist after fist, kick after kick. Most of them landed, but then Ivan landed one blow that sent Dragon to the ground, blood splattering across the ring. I shot to my feet with a gasp, immediately panicking.
“Relax, Spark,” Karma said gently as he carefully pulled me onto his lap. “Dragon has taken worse hits.”
He must have been right, because Dragon got back up. That hit must have made him a little dizzy though, because shortly after he got up, he lost the round. Now they were one for one. Whoever wins this match takes home the title. I don’t even care about that. I just want Ozias to be safe.
I felt like I was going to throw up the whole time I watched them fight. They were both sweaty and bloody. They were both panting and focused. Ivan kicked Dragon in the ribs, sending him flying to the ground. Then Dragon got Ivan with an uppercut to the jaw. Honestly, the longer I watched, the more I thought they would come to a draw. The crowd was sitting on the edge of their seats as they watched. Some of them cheered for Ivan, some for Dragon.

And finally, Dragon landed a right hook to Ivan’s face. Ivan went down like a sack of potatoes. The crowd waited. We all held our breath as the ref counted. And then…
“The title winner is The Silver Dragon!!!! The rookie takes it all!!!”
The crowd went nuts! I went nuts! I was jumping up and down, clapping and shouting like Dragon could actually hear me. I felt so relieved that I could cry.
“I hated every single second of that and this is the worst first date ever,” I told them as I continued to clap.
Dragon was in the ring holding up the belt for the fans. Confetti was flying all over. Dragon’s coach and another man were hugging him and jumping up and down. He looked so happy. Bloody, but happy. I was so proud of him.
“I know babe,” Karma told me with a laugh. “Next date will be much better. I promise.”
I nodded and sniffled as I watched a third man usher Dragon off the stage. I turned to Karma, ready to go get this over with. I was excited and nervous, and the combination made me feel ready to upchuck.
“We need to wait,” Karma told me.
“For what?” I asked.
“Dragon has interviews to do, autographs to sign, and a shower to take,” Psy.cho said. “Being a pro is a busy life.”
“So, we just wait here then?” I asked.
Karma nodded.
“How do we know when to leave? Is Dragon meeting us here?” I asked.
“No, someone-”
