No matter how stunned Amelia was, she only needed a few seconds to process what had happened.
“Come with me.” Ryan’s chest rose and fell with heavy breaths. He was barely holding back his anger and his voice came out rough and low. “Go wash up and change your clothes.”
He didn’t even look at her again. He just grabbed Amelia by the wrist and pulled her away, as if seeing her like this for even another second might make him snap.
“Wait—”
Ryan’s face was like stone. He ignored her completely.
Seeing that he wouldn’t stop, Amelia panicked and grabbed his hand in return. Her touch caught him off guard and he came to a halt, turning back to her with a storm brewing in his eyes.
Amelia held onto him like she was clinging to a lifeline.
“I know I’m late. I swear I’ll go clean up right now, but please—please give me another chance to talk about the partnership. I’m begging you, Mr. Packman.”
She couldn’t lose this shot.
Ryan stared at her for a long moment, then asked, “Is it really that important to you?”
“Yes.” She didn’t hesitate at all.
Five years ago, it was Amelia who locked down the first five-year deal with West Medicine. That win was what put Clive in the group’s top seat and got him a spot on Cloudcrest’s board.
Now she was out here fighting for a second five-year deal for the same man?
Just a few days ago, she’d been asking him about divorce lawyers…
All the heat and rage in Ryan’s chest died down in an instant.
His whole vibe changed—cold and distant.
